and sIris's POV

"I told you your mom would save the day! Iris, we're going to this party!" Aisha cheered.

"Who are you telling!? I was shook when dad said I could go. Mom really has him whipped." I chuckled, closing my locker.

"So, what are you gonna wear? You want to make sure Andrew notices you, boo!"

"Um, I was thinking about ripped jeans and a black tank top." Aisha slammed her locker closed and glared at me.

"Iris, you serious?" She scoffed.

"What, too much?" I asked.

"Too much?! You are going to a party with seniors and juniors! Andrew is a whole ass junior. You know the juniors and seniors love showing skin! He's not even gonna cast you a second glance." I looked down at my dark washed jeans and a faded grey sweater.

"So my style isn't hot?" I frowned.

"Iris, don't get me wrong, you've got this cute innocent look going for you and your curls are beautiful, but it wouldn't hurt to show off your assets." Aisha smiled.

"I don't know, A. I'm a little nervous."

"Stick with me kid, I'll set you up." With that, she linked arms with me as we walked to class. I saw Junior talking to his friends as he glanced over at Aisha and me.

"Iris, wait up!" He called, running over to us.

"What's up, Junior?" I asked.

"Okay, so I don't know if you knew this, but I'm hearing that Andrew is gonna ask you out at his party." He whispered, a smirk tugging on his lips. Aisha squealed and punched my arm.

"A, ow!" I winced.

"That is it, before this party, you're coming to my place to get ready. My sister will drive us." Aisha planned. I looked over at Junior watching her with such wonder in his eyes. Time to throw the kid a bone...

"Aisha, can Junior come too? Don't want to make him ride with dad and get grilled." I asked.

"Iris, duh! PJ, just make sure you're ready when it's time to go, okay? I want you looking dummy cute so all the girl fall to your knees." Aisha winked. She tugged my arm, pulling me away from a shocked Junior.

"See ya later," I giggled. Aisha and I made our way to our Gov class and took our seats. The bell to start class rang and when I saw what was on the board my face fell.

Superheroes or Humanity's Worst Nightmare?

Mr. Henry always gotta stir the pot in this class, ugh.

"By now you've all seen the topic on the board and instead of rambling on and giving you facts and statements from the government, I want to hear your opinion. Are heroes friends or foes?" He asked smirking at us. Instantly a hand shot up and my face ran hot. Nico always had something to say.

"They cause more harm than good. I mean on occasion they do save a lot of people but is that supposed to make up for the people they killed? They need to let law enforcement stand up for us. It's why we have police." Nico ranted.

"Can the police fight back alien invasions like the Avengers can? Yes, police officers and military persons are heroes but they are not super which is what threats nowadays call for." Aisha spat back. She always got touchy on the subject ever since my mom saved her dad's life.

"My dad was our age when the battle of New York took place. The Avengers destroyed the city and for a problem that Thor brought to earth. They bring the alien invasions to us because guess what they're freaks just like the aliens." Riley sneered. That bitch.
