Lyric's POV
I sat on my bed, fiddling with my fingers, wondering when Papa and Dad would be back. It's been a long mission and I haven't seen them in months.
"Miss Rogers-Barnes, it looks like you haven't eaten yet today even though it's 4 in the afternoon. I'll start boiling water for your usual tea." FRIDAY spoke. I nodded slowly.
"Thank you FRIDAY." I stood up and walked down to the kitchen. Clint was out visiting his family and Natasha was on an undercover mission. It was relatively quiet in the tower.
When I arrived in the kitchen, my tea was already made for me, right down to the spearmint tea bag. I smiled and brought the mug to my lips as the elevator opened.
"And this is the living room slash kitchen." Tony said, guiding a boy with brown curly hair into the tower.
"Uncle Tony?" I questioned softly, making Tony and the boy both looked over at me.
"Hey there, Sunshine. You getting your nutrients?" Tony asked, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I'm drinking tea." I shrugged.
"Try an apple too kid, they keep the doctor away or something like that."
"Where is uncle Bruce? I haven't had my lesson today."
"He's giving a talk or something so I guess today you have an off day." During the conversation, I couldn't stop my eyes from wandering over to the boy with brown hair. Uncle Tony must have caught that.
"Oh, Lyric, this is Peter. He's my intern of sorts." Peter. He looked at me with a nervous smile on his face. I hadn't been this close to a boy my age since 3 years ago.
"H-Hey, Parker Peter...I mean Penis Parker! No, Peter Parker!" Peter stuttered. I smiled slightly.
"Hi Peter. Lyric Rogers-Barnes." I replied. Peter's eyes widened and he was about to speak until FRIDAY interrupted him.
"Miss Rogers-Barnes, there's an incoming video call for you in your bedroom." The AI spoke. I nodded and gave a polite smile to uncle Tony and Peter before excusing myself. I walked into my room to see Papa on the screen.
"Papa!" I grinned.
"Hey Darlin'! How's my favorite girl doing?" He asked.
"I miss you and Dad. Speaking of, where is Dad?"
"He's flying the quinjet right now. We're coming home today."
"Really?!"
"Yup. Should be back in about 2 hours."
"I can't wait! Bruce has been teaching me so much. You and Dad are gonna be so proud!"
"We already are. See you soon darlin."
"Bye Papa." I hung up the video call feeling giddy. Finally they would be home.
These past few months without them I pretty much just learned, ate when I remembered, and hung out with Pietro and Wanda. Wanda and I watched three different tv shows on Netflix. I guess I've become a bit of a homebody, but it's not that bad save the days I look out my window and see all those people on the sidewalk. All my friends were in the tower anyway.
When the second hour was nearly up, I made my way down to the living room, a book in my hand. I sat in my favorite recliner and opened up to where I left off.
"I'm...sorry to disturb you, but do you know where Mr. Stark is?" A voice asked startling me. I jumped slightly and turned to see Peter.
"Uncle Tony tends to get sidetracked and forgets." I mumbled. I stood up and noted how Peter stood nervously, occasionally glancing at me.
