Chapter 36

Recap of Chapter 35: The avengers are out on a mission, leaving Lyric and Thomas in the tower alone. Thomas gets into Tony's alcohol and convinces Lyric to drink too. She gets a little tipsy and Thomas tries to come onto her. When she pushes him away, he spikes her drink and takes advantage of her. The next morning, Lyric believes it to be a dream until she sees Thomas next to her. He says if she tells anyone they'll never believe her so he gives her a plan B and leaves her crying in the bathroom.

*2 Weeks Later*

Peter's POV

"Lyric, you knew about this for weeks!" I yelled.

"I'm not feeling well Peter, I can't help that." Lyric sighed.

"You haven't been feeling well since our fight! It's like you haven't been yourself. You were forcing me to go away from you for college. Is there something you wanna tell me?" It got silent before Lyric shook her head.

"Let's not talk about this. I'll get dressed Peter. I'll come." She conceded, but I wasn't ready to give up just yet.

"No, let's keep talking about this! Tell me right now Lyric, do you not love me anymore? Do you wanna break up?" I asked. She didn't answer. I pushed a picture frame to the floor, making the glass shatter. Lyric flinched.

"Answer me!" I growled, the anger masking the overwhelming sadness I felt.

"No! No, Peter, I don't want to break up with you. I...I love you, I just think you shouldn't be giving up your future for me." She admitted.

"You know how serious I am about you! I don't care about some school with a name. I can learn the same shit anywhere. Jesus, Lyric, how could I leave you when you're wearing my ri—" I looked down at her hand to see no ring. She never takes off the ring. I looked at Lyric's guilty face and took a step towards her.

"Where's the ring?" Her eyes welled up with tears and I feared what I imagined was true.

"Tell me you weren't with him. Tell me you didn't..." I trailed off. I heard her sobs and I knew it was true.

She cheated on me with Thomas.

I left the room and instantly started for his room. I should've known, he came in and charmed her, and had his way with her.

"P-Peter! Where are you going?" Lyric sobbed, but I tuned her out. I knocked on his door and as soon as I saw his face, I slammed my fist in it.

"Peter!" Lyric screeched. I tackled Thomas to the ground and just started laying into him, one punch after another. Soon I felt hands on me, pulling me away from Thomas.

"Parker! Calm down! What's going on?" Steve yelled. I saw Lyric shaking in Bucky's arms while the other Avengers looked at me. I just focused on Lyric.

"All you had to say was you didn't want to see me anymore. You didn't have to cheat on me." I said softly. All eyes now turned to Lyric.

"Everyone left on that week-long mission, he...he got into Uncle Tony's alcohol, and I was having a hard time since Christmas so I drank with him. I...He...I didn't know how to tell you." She cried.

"You got my daughter drunk and then took advantage of her?" Bucky said, letting go of Lyric. Thomas stood up, chuckling lightly.

"It's not like she was a virgin, besides, she wanted it too. She's been flirting with me since I got here." He sneered.

"She would never cheat on Peter, and she would never drink unless pressured," Wanda yelled. I shook my head.

"I want to see the security tapes," I said loud enough for everyone to hear. Thomas looked nervous.

"What the hell are you talking about, you pervert?" He asked.

"I don't believe you, I won't. I want to see the security tapes." I hissed. Mr. Stark pulled out his phone and pulled up security from the week we were on a mission. I saw Thomas crawl on top of Lyric and her push him away. She was turned away from him so she didn't see him put something in her drink! She drank whatever was in the cup and then the lights went out. With the night vision, I could see Thomas pull off Lyric's shirt as she tried to fight off his advances. When he started to pull down her pants, I turned off the video.

I felt...sick. My mouth was dry and something wet fell down my cheeks. Tears. Did he just...

"You raped her." Mr. Stark mumbled. I looked over to see his own tear fall from his eye.

"I-I just gave her something to loosen up." Thomas stuttered, backing away from the angry superheroes. Steve grabbed him by his throat and Thomas was suspended above the ground.

"How dare you? How dare you even touch her?! We let you in, treated you like family!" Steve barked and for a moment, I swore he was gonna kill him.

"Papa...don't," Lyric muttered. We all looked at her. Her eyes were green as she stared out the window.

"Lyric...he raped you," Nat whispered.

"Please, let him go. Leave the tower Thomas, and don't come back." Lyric continued. Steve dropped Thomas. He scrambled to his feet and looked at Lyric suspiciously.

"What are you planning?" He asked.

"Leave!" She screamed, eyes meeting his. Thomas took off and Lyric dropped to her knees.

"Why...Why did you let him go?" Bucky asked, pulling his daughter into his arms.

"My powers...the stones...they said he'll be taken care of." She said emotionlessly. I shook my head and left, not sure how to react. How do you react to something like this?
