Lyric's POV
"I called you, I looked for you, I put up flyers for you. Why come back now? And with Peter?" I ranted.
"Lyric, I never was supposed to run into you again. This was just a mistake. I was so drunk I didn't even know it was Peter." Jamie apologized.
"You're not even old enough to drink."
"Really? That's what you have to say to me?" I groaned and slammed my hand on the table.
"You can't keep waltzing in and out of my life as you please! I want you to stay, but prove to me you can do that Jamie. Prove that you can be my sister...please." I pleaded.
"Lyric, you know I want to be that for you, but I don't know how to. I slept with your ex! I didn't even come to your wedding. How can I begin to apologize to Jack?" Jamie frowned. My eyes fell to the table as Jack's name was brought up.
"Jack...passed away nearly a year ago, Jamie. He was shot at the wedding." I explained. Jamie gasped and threw her hands over her mouth.
"Lyric...oh my god...I'm so sorry, I never even knew." She stuttered.
"You weren't here, Jamie! How could you know?" I sighed.
"Lyric, how can I stay when I've hurt you so much? How can you let me stay after how much I hurt you?"
"Because you're the only biological family I have left."
"But Peter..."
"Is not my business anymore. He's doing whatever he wants and so am I." Jamie pulled me into a tight hug, sniffling quietly.
"I want to stay. I miss you, Lyr." She said softly.
"Of course you can stay." I smiled.
Peter's POV
"You slept with her sister?! I don't think that's the way to win her back, Peter." Ned scoffed.
"I was so wasted. I never even meant to." I groaned.
"You're an idiot. It's expected that you make mistakes like this." MJ shrugged.
"So not helping." I glared at her.
"You don't even get drunk, Peter. What the hell happened?" Ned asked.
"Well, Lyric was talking with some guy and I got jealous so I drank...a lot," I explained.
"And there's your problem. Your male ethos was kicking in. Is he bigger than me? Stronger than me? Probably, so I'll drink to forget to feel sorry for myself and become more manly. It's a character flaw in most guys." MJ stated.
"Really? That's what you're gonna say to me?" I frowned.
"Girls don't like the big macho man, Peter. You wanted to show that you were a man too, that you can grab girls just as easily as that other guy could. Am I wrong?" I sighed letting MJ's words sink in.
"No...you're not wrong." I relented.
"What are you gonna do now?" Ned asked.
"What can I do?" I said.
"I can try to make you sound less like an asshole and more like whoever she liked in the first place," MJ suggested.
"Wow, look at you actually being helpful," I said sarcastically.
"I take it upon myself to help the unfortunate dorks of the world. I mean we're sitting on the steps of Stark Tower talking about your feelings. I feel like a dork by association." Ned and I laughed before a shadow fell over us. I looked up and saw the guy from last night.
"Hey I'm sorry, I was just trying to get past." He said.
"And who are you here for? I need to know...for security reasons." MJ asked, standing up in front of the guy.
"Um, I'm Marcus and I'm here for Lyric. We're supposed to get lunch." The guy, Marcus, said. MJ looked over at me with wide eyes.
"This is the guy?" She whispered. I nodded. She looked over at Marcus and motioned him into the tower.
"Really, MJ?!" Ned frowned.
"I'd be a horrible friend to Lyric if I didn't at least let her try him out. I mean did you see him?" MJ argued. I groaned and dropped my head in my hands.
"I'm never getting her back," I mumbled.
Lyric's POV
I finished my hair when Wanda came running into my room.
"Hottie from last night is in the living room!" She squealed.
"He's here already?!" I gasped. I stood up and fixed my green sundress.
"Oooh! Lyric, you are killing it right now! Girl, do a lil spin." Wanda whistled. I spun, laughing at her.
"Wanda, I really should go. We have a lunch date." I smiled.
"Alright. Do you need me to keep an eye on Jamie and Peter? Make sure things stay rated G between them?" She asked lowly.
"They can do whatever they want. I don't care anymore." I shrugged. I made my way to the living room to see Marcus standing by the elevator.
"Hey, you look beautiful." He smiled.
"Thanks. You look pretty good yourself." I giggled.
"Ready to go?"
"Yeah." Marcus and I entered the elevator smiling at each other.
*Later*
"I had a good time today," I said, walking back to the tower.
"Good enough to let me take you out on a second date?" He said hopefully.
"Text me and I'll see if I can set something up." Marcus chuckled and kissed my hand.
"I look forward to it." He promised, leaving me by the elevator. The door closed and I swooned silently.
I walked into the living area to see Nat, Wanda, and MJ waiting for me.
"Um, hello," I said slowly.
"How was it?" MJ asked.
"Since when do you care for gossip?"
"Since I caught sight of that man. It's guys like him that remind me I'm Bi."
"So, what happened?" Wanda pressed. I told them how we had lunch, talked, and took a walk, getting to know each other.
"Wait so you didn't sleep with him?" Nat frowned.
"No! I just met the guy." I exclaimed.
"Will there be a second date?" Wanda smirked.
"It's very likely." I smiled.
"Lyric, I'm 100% here for this. I want to know every major or even minor development. Men like him have got to be made in test tubes." MJ commented.
"You're telling me." Nat chuckled.
Peter's POV
I sat in my room when the door randomly opened. Jamie stood there with a few bags.
"Peter! I'm so sorry. My room is the one next to yours." She apologized. I chuckled and shrugged it off.
"That's fine. So you decided to stay." I stated.
"I did."
"That's great." Jamie bit her lip and eyed me up and down.
"It is, isn't it." She smiled. Before I could say another word she was off to her room.
Weird.
