Lyric's POV
I sat in my room, surrounded by my fluffiest blankets. I could faintly hear Uncle Tony making his way to my room. After I got the phone call from Harry last night, Papa told Uncle Tony and he and Pepper were on the next flight home.
"I've upgraded FRIDAY's security, Steve, she will be safe. Now, let me talk to her." Uncle Tony said. He knocked on my door before opening it slightly.
"Hey princess." He smiled.
"Hey," I mumbled. My throat hurt from crying and my eyes were red from the tears. Uncle Tony sighed, sitting down on the bed next to me. I let him pull me into a hug.
"You know he's not gonna get to you, right? Hydra won't get you, not while we're around." He promised.
"I just...things were normal. I was getting ready for formal and now I'm probably gonna have to cancel on, Peter. God, Peter doesn't deserve this. I'm so selfish." I sniffled.
"Selfish? How?"
"I know I'm messed up Uncle Tony. No matter how many times you guys tell me I'm not, I know I am. I'm damaged goods and nothing can fix that, but Peter is just so good. He has a good heart and an amazing soul. He cares so much and this is just gonna worry him. I know he's gonna be disappointed about formal, but he won't say anything. He wouldn't say anything just to spare my feelings. I should've never liked him. I should've kept my feelings to myself. I'm so stupid."
"You are not stupid, and as for being damaged? There is someone for everyone and I honestly believe Peter is that for you. You two haven't been together for a month yet and this kid is already stupid for you. Every time we're in the lab together all I hear is 'Mr. Stark do I get her flowers? Does she like flowers? Gosh, I just want to be good for her.' You didn't do anything. He fell for you just as hard as you fell for him." I took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly.
"Leave it up to Harry to screw me out of my first dance," I complained dryly.
"Hey, if you really want to go, we can all talk and see if there's any way we can make sure you're safe there." Uncle Tony compromised, kissing my cheek. I smiled and hugged him tightly.
"I don't know what I'd do without you Uncle Tony," I said honestly. Our moment was cut short by FRIDAY.
"Miss Rogers-Barnes, Mister Parker is here for you." The AI said. I furrowed my brow in confusion.
"Yeah, send him up to her room FRIDAY." Uncle Tony said as I looked at him.
"I figured you'd want to take your mind off all this, and Parker would be more than happy to help you forget." He shrugged.
"Thank you." I smiled. Uncle Tony left as Peter walked in. His hair was all over the place and his sweater was slightly disheveled. I could only guess that he threw on clothes to get here since he wore joggers instead of usual jeans.
"I came as soon as Tony called me. Are you okay?" He asked, sitting next to me. I could feel the tears brimming in my eyes again as I gulped. Dammit, how could someone be so good?
"I am now," I admitted.
Steve's POV
"It's a horrible thing to say, but I want him dead. I want that kid dead." I stated.
"I'm right behind ya pal." Bucky sighed.
"I mean, what right does he have disrupting our little girl's life like this? Everything was so normal for a while Buck."
"I know. We were getting her ready for formal. She was gonna show us the dress today."
"I was gonna show her one of the styles I liked."
"...We might just have to kill him." I sighed and rubbed a hand on my face.
"Yeah...I know." I agreed. Wanda entered, toying with her rings. She was nervous about something.
"Hey, guys, Tony and I want to talk about the possibility of Lyric still attending formal safely." She said nervously. I looked at Bucky who in turn looked at me.
"We gotta at least hear 'em out." He said. I nodded and followed Bucky and Wanda.
Peter's POV
Lyric laid with her head on my chest as we watched Parks and Recreation on her TV.
"I'm not mad. It's fine if we don't go. I'll just come by the tower and we can hang out." I promised.
"It's not the same, Pete. A normal girl wouldn't have to cancel like this." Lyric sighed. I moved so she would have to lift her head to watch me.
"yeah, a normal girl would cancel for some half-ass reason. Yours is valid, Lyr. Besides, I don't want a normal girl, I just want you." I assured her, pressing a kiss to her lips. I could definitely get used to kissing her whenever.
"Well, someone's a kiss-aholic." Lyric teased. I chuckled lightly, nuzzling my nose into her neck.
"First of all, this is, like, my 3rd time kissing you so I think it takes more to classify me as an addict. Secondly, I like kissing you so I'm not wasting time not kissing you when I can be kissing you." I explained, breathing in her scent.
"You're too good for me Pete." She whispered.
"Are you kidding me? You're like a 50 and I'm like a 3. Lyric, you're too good for me."
"How about we agree that we're just perfect for each other?"
"Ok, I can agree with that." Lyric giggled as I brought her lips to mine for another kiss, one that was longer than our others. We pulled back after hearing a knock on the door. Bucky came in with a slight smile on his face.
"Doll, we were all talking and it was decided that Tony, Wanda, and Pietro will chaperone the dance. That way if anything happens, everything will be safer." He said. Lyric's face lit up and she smiled at me.
"Dad, thank you guys so much. I know this couldn't be easy for you or Papa." She said running to hug Bucky.
"Hey, you were right. You deserve to be normal. Harry is not gonna ruin that for you." He mumbled. Lyric kissed his cheek and Bucky left.
"Did that just happen?" I chuckled. Lyric just squealed and jumped on the bed next to me. She took my face in her hands and kissed me.
"That most definitely just happened. Peter, I am so excited." She laughed. I laughed back and kissed her again, pulling her on top of me.
