Edward returns to school on the same day as Rayne, he felt bad for leaving right after she did when Quinton left. Rosalie told him how she trashed her house out of rage of Quintin abandoning her. He understands but still feels bad.

Edward looks across the parking lot where Rayne is talking to his blood-Singer, Bella. Bella looks sympathetic, sad. Edward wishes he could read Bella's mind but for some reasons, he can't. He knows Rayne tries blocking off her thoughts but she doesn't do a very good job at keeping some thoughts hidden.

"Rayne hasn't spoken to me since we cleaned up her house," Rosalie admits to her siblings.

"She feels lost," Jasper tells her as he glances at Rayne across the lot. "She'll come around."

Edward glances back at his sister. "She will... she just needs time, Rose." He offers her a kind smile before heading inside.

"He's right," Alana mumbles sadly. "Rayne needs time; she's in mourning and Quinton left her on the same day her mom was buried. It'll take time."

Rosalie wants nothing more than to wrap Rayne up in her arms and tell her everything will be okay. She doesn't want to overstep, though, because she knows Alana is right. Rayne is in mourning, she is devastated for losing both a mom and dad.

"Yeah," Rosalie whispers as she forces herself to remove her eyes from Rayne. "You're right."

Rayne goes through her day in silence. She doesn't speak to anyone. She sits with Bella at lunch, she tells her about Edward introducing himself in biology. She's rambling on about Edward while Rayne pretends to listen.

Rayne looks across the cafeteria and she meets Rosalie's bright eyes. She feels bad for not talking to her. It's been a few days since the funeral and Rayne hadn't spoke to Rosalie, or any of the Cullens. Rayne grabs her phone when Jessica gets Bella's attention, finally reeling her attention away. Rayne sends a text.

To: My Rose 🥀
Can I come over later? I miss u.

She hits send and she hears Jessica ranting about god knows what and she sees Rosalie opening the text with a grin. Rose meets Rayne's eyes before she typed.

From: My Rose 🥀
Of course you can! I miss you, too.

Rayne blushes slightly and she looks at Bella. "Bella, I can't come over after school."

"You're going to Rosalie's?" Bella asks.

Rayne nods with a small smile. "I need to talk to her again, I haven't since I trashed my living room in a fit of blind rage."

Jessica, as always, gives Rayne a judgmental look. Jessica constantly judges Rayne, rather it be mentally or verbally. It's always because of the fact Rayne is a lesbian, that she lost her mom and her father left on the day of the funeral, the fact the trashed her house. Jessica flat out called Rayne selfish for reacting the way she did when Quinton left.

Rayne looks down at her tray to avoid Jessica's judgy blue eyes. Angela frowns and she scolds Jessica for judging Rayne. Angela is the sweet one of the friends; she honestly gets why Rayne reacted the way she did, she thought she was losing everyone because she buried her mom and lost Quinton all in one day.

Rayne recently discovered a box of old journals and ancient type books with a mermaid type thing on the front. The box was in Amelia and Quinton's closet with RHONE. It is written like that, all capital letters and in italic style. She has yet to look inside and look at the books. She wants to do thst with Rosalie.

After school, Rayne drives home and goes to Amelia and Quinton's old room. She's glad the two bought the house instead of renting it or else there'd be no way for Rayne to live here on her own.

Rayne grabs the box of journals and books and puts it in then passenger's seat of her two seater car. She walks around the car and gets in behind the wheel. The copper haired human starts up the Dodge Viper and she drives to the Cullens place across town.

Rayne holds the box with two hands as she walks up to the door. Luckily, the door opens and Emmett leans against the doorway with a smirk.

"What is with you and carrying things too big for your small size?" He asks in amusement.

"Just move, Emmett McCarty," Rayne scowls.

Emmett smirks at the use of his given last name and he steps aside. Rayne steps inside and she goes to the den so that she doesn't have to climb the stairs with the box.

"Where are the others?" Rayne asks.

"I'm here!" Rosalie exclaims before she suddenly appears. "Hello."

"I was wondering if you'd help me go through these," Rayne says as she motions toward the box. "It was my mom's."

Rosalie smiles and she grabs one of the books with a mermaid on the front. She sits in the arm chair while Rayne grabs one of the journals.

It's me, Amelia. I got my... abilities today. What am I?

It's me again.... I found out what I am... I'm a sired.

"A siren?" Rayne mumbles and Rosalie looks up. "My mother was a siren."

"Mind if I take these to Carlisle to looo through?" Rosalie asks. "We can talk."

Rayne nods in acceptance. She places the journal back into the box and then Rose carries the box upstairs as Emmett leaves the house to grant the two some privacy. Given they'll still be heard, but they'll be in some privacy. They'll be alone together, anyway.
....

Rosalie opens Carlisle's door and the man looks up at Rosalie.

"What's this?" Carlisle asks as he looks at the box.

"Some stuff from Amelia's side of the family," Rosalie replies. "About sirens. Rayne brought them over."

Carlisle stands and he walks around his desk to grab the box. "You go and talk to your mate, Rosalie. I'll read through these and talk to Rayne myself."

Rosalie smiles before she returns to Rayne. She sits on the couch and they talk... until Rayne passes out with her head on the vampire's lap that night. Rosalie combs her fingers through Rayne's hair as she sleeps, smiling down at the human she will hopefully soon call hers.
