Rayne gets ready for school the next day, this time without looking at the picture of her and Summer. She isn't ready to throw the picture away yet, but she didn't feel the urge to look at it as soon as she woke up. She's pleased she didn't feel it.
Once her jacket is zipped up and her converse are tied, Rayne goes downstairs and finds Quinton in his uniform. He has to go into the station today. The dark skinned man looks at his step-daughter and smiles.
"You look better this morning," Quinton complements. "Not as sad, is what I mean."
"I didn't want to look at the picture when I woke up," Rayne admirs. "Maybe that's why."
"Maybe," Quinton replies with a loving smile.
Rayne gives Quinton a hug before she heads toward. She stops at the door and faces the man. "Happy birthday, Quinton."
"Thanks, kid," Quinton says with a bright smile. "I thought you'd have forgotten."
"Never," Rayne muses befofe she leaves.

"Emmett, do you know where the court house is in town or is it as easy as finding this place?" Rayne asks.
"It's in the center of town," Emmett replies as he leans against the rails beside Rayne's car. "Why?"
"My mom married my amazing step-father about six years ago," Rayne replies as Rosalie watches them. "Today is his birthday and I wanted to ask him to adopt me."
Emmett nudges his new friend as Alana walks up. "That'll be awesome," the big vampire says. "This Alana Hale."
"Hi," Rayne greets softly. "I'm Rayne Spears."
Alana smiles and she looks at Rayne. "Nice to meet you!" She looks at a distraught Rosalie. "I'll see you later, Em."
Emmett nods and watches her leave. "Where do you live? I can pick you up and bring you to where you need to in order to get the adoption papers."
Rayne smiles and she walks to she car. She pulls her back out and closes the door. The human lays her bad on the car's hood and pulls out a small notebook with a thin point pen. She writes her address on it and rips the piece of paper out before handing it over to Emmett.
When Emmett walks away, Rosalie hesitantly approaches Rayne.
"Hey," Rosalie greets her. "I'm Rosalie."
"Hey," Rayne greets with a soft voice. "I'm Rayne."
"Want me to walk you to class?" Rosalie asks with a small hint of a grin on her gorgeous face.
Rayne blushes and she nods. Rosalie smiles before they head inside.
"That's what Rosalie needs," Jasper says to his siblings. "Happiness."
"I think she should give Rayne a shot," Alana says with a smile. "What do you think?"
"I think she should, also," Jasper replies. "Rayne isn't as sad as she was yesterday. And her mood lifted as soon as Rosalie approached her. I am not sure, though, how she will react to our secret."
