I had my head resting on the table top of the desk in front of me, I was tired beyond belief, I had to sort out finances for everyone to be able to live and figure out how much stock can be traded out without putting the village in poverty, I wasn't that good with numbers, this was a task I couldn't find a way around but I knew I would when I actually took a break and came back to it later. some of the woman had gone to Sunagakura and stocked up on fabrics to begin making clothes for people in the village and to trade out as well, honestly they were having fun with it so why not.
The elderly couple had decided to open up a pie shop in one of the buildings that were meant for a store in the shopping district, their pies were from all ranges of savoury to sweet and if I went there again today I will get an addiction to them because they're that declicious. another store that was opened was a noodle stand, the children love eating there, they're always there if they aren't where they're meant to be. Our farmlands were striving and our cattle was breeding nicely, but..
we still only had me as the shinobi trained person and Hideo had expressed his annoyance about that multiple times already. the children were learning slowly and by the time they're eleven they'd be ready to become genin, I wasn't going to push them any further even if they asked to learn more, I didn't want to be the leader that forced the children into fighting tools, let them have their childhood, I want them to stay smiling for years to come.
I lifted my head as I sensed chakra coming towards the village, I looked down at the scroll in front of me and looked it over, sudden realisation washed over me and I completed the paperwork, beginning to move onto another pile, seeing mission applications and tilted my head in wonder. looking each mission over, I noticed they were all for genin and had the symbol of Sand Village on the top right corner.
"I guess Gaara noticed that the children wanted missions" I shook my head, the missions were the usual of helping elderly with their groceries, pulling weeds, helping with gathering herbs and such. the children weren't in squads yet, I wasn't sure how to go about deciding the teams because there wasn't ninja who could become their sensei's.
"sensei-"
"hello Kaida" I mused, she stood in front of the desk and mock saluted at me, grinning.
"what can I do for you?" I wondered, any other time one of the children came into my office it was to tell me that they'd gotten a bullseye or wanted to train again, I wondered what Kaida had come here for knowing she could hit the bullseye and was exceptional in her training for someone her age.
"I was wondering, are we gonna get missions when we become ninja?" I blinked, surprised.
"you will be given missions when you're genin, so you better do well in school with Ren" I mused, she huffed at what I said.
"but I want a mission now!"
"yeah!" behind her was Hana and Akito, raising an eyebrow at Kaida in question she gave me a sheepish look.
"we want one?" I shook my head at her words, looking down at the missions in front of me, spotting one that they could be.
"let me explain first. Hana, Akito. Join us." They walked into the office and stood in front of me in a line, I looked at the three of them and gave a smile.
"missions are given out to the appropriate shinobi with the right arsenal, none of you children are genin yet or skilled enough to go on any missions that include the other village shinobi" they began to pout, looking disappointed at my words.
"but-" I watched as their eyes lit up, rolling my eyes at their reaction I continued. " -Gaara has given me a few missions from The Sand Village that you can do, but I want you three to understand the importance of not causing harm in his village, okay?" They nodded, seeming to understand what I was saying.
"we'll be on our best behavior and complete this mission without fail" Kaida spoke up, the look in her eye, along with Hana and Akito's was strong and determined. I nodded.
"it's a simple mission, you three are to take this mission slip to The Kazekage, inform him that you three will be helping collect herbs for medical treatment, do you understand?"
"hai sensei"
"I'm placing Kaida in charge, because I know you have a good understanding about herbs and flowers. don't let me down. you'll leave in an hour and enter The Sand through their East Gate, it's a short walk from here so you won't be stuck in any sand storms"
"we won't let you down!"
"you're dismissed" I spoke after giving Kaida the mission slip, the three of them ran out, running into Asuna who had just opened the door.
"they seem livelier than usual"
"they're embarking on their first mission" Asuna chuckled, nodding.
"I came to inform you that there is a group of people at the gates saying they've come to see you, they're from Konoha" I paused, a cold chil went down my spine.
"I see. Let them in, I'm sure they're here on behalf of the Hokage" she nodded and left the office once more.
