"daddy!...da..hiccup...ddy" he cried out, his eyes welling over with tears. a sharp pain struck me in the chest and I resisted the urge to bring a hand up to clutch the fabric of my shirt. He seemed to notice my presence because he suddenly turned towards me and his eyes seemed to shine over with the tears and sun shining towards him.
"hi I'm Ari" my head turned to see Ari and Mikoto, I resisted the urge on face palming and watched as the boy raised the blanket in his hold towards his face, sniffing, before he hiccuped once more, his eyes bloodshot from all the crying.
"Shi-hiccup-sui...Shisui.."
Shisui Uchiha, possibly named after Itachi's older cousin who was his best friend during the academy and ANBU days?...last I heard, Shisui of the body flicker had killed himself, reasons unknown..
"It's very nice to meet you, Shisui" I replied, seeing Ari and Mikoto not about to respond with anything other than giggerish of being six years old and wanting to playing ninja all the time with the others.
"I miss my daddy...hiccup"
"you'll see him again, don't worry! Tenshi-sensei will find him" I squinted at Mikoto, I will? The boy looked from Mikoto to me, before the emotion in his eyes changed.
"Mommy?" Ari and Mikoto turned around towards me confused, I kept my gaze on Shisui as I nodded, their jaws dropped. I watched as Shisui's eyes welled up with even more tears as he ran towards me, I resisted the urge of moving away and let his small arms wrap around my neck tightly. I wrapped my arms around his form gently, standing up with him in my hold, I turned towards the raven that was staring.
'he'll be safe'
I mouthed to the raven as I raised a hand to the back of Shisui and rubbed it in small circles, patting softly every now and again. Ari and Mikoto turned to the raven as it spread its wings and flew away into the distance of forest trees, I looked down at them and offered them a small smile which they returned and ran off back into the village. I kept my hold on Shisui as I headed into the village, shushing him gently as he cried while holding onto me.
"it's okay Shisui, you're the okay" I whispered as I walked towards my house.
I greeted everyone I walked past, informing them that'll I'll explain at a better time about the boy in my hold, Loki ran up to me and passed over a small brown bear, saying that it always helped him feel better and hopes Shisui will feel better too. As I opened the door to the home, I walked upstairs finding Asuna just leaving the spare room, when she saw me she began to open her mouth, possibly to yell at me for being upstairs.
"is the room finished?"
"it's finished but I'm waiting for the paint smell to air out..." I nodded in thanks.
"I'll put him in my room, okay? you..keep working on your project"
"Will do" I snorted at her words and walked into my bedroom, half way in walking here, I felt Shisui in my hold suddenly change and his breathing seemed to even out. he had fallen asleep, crying himself to it. I pulled back the blankets and laid him down, allowing him to keep the blanket in his hold as I moved the blankets over him, I noticed his tear stained cheeks and reached over, wiping them away.
"I'm sorry for asking you to do this"
"you have your reasons, Itachi. he'll understand"
"when he's old enough, can you...tell him? explain to him what I did and why I did it"
"As long as you visit. I will take care of him"
"Let him read that letter when he's older. I will give any and all aid this village needs until my death, all I want is for him to have a better life, one that isn't filled with a rogue father"
"I understand, Itachi. Just know... you're welcome in this village"
