Kaida POV
We had a mission, an actual mission. we were to go to Konoha, it was a three day distance for skilled shinobi, for us, it would take an extra day or two, so we made sure to pack extra food in case we were to be still travelling after the fourth day. We knew what we had to do, we knew everything we needed for this mission to be a success, but I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if we found ourselves face to face with rogues.
would we be able to summon Tenshi-sama in time?
Asuna-san had given us a map with a clear path to take, she said that it was the least likely path to have rogues on it and that we should follow it the best we could. we were eight, almost nine, I don't think any of us were ready to fight a real opponent, let alone fight for our lives.. If this mission to Konoha was really important, why did Tenshi-sama and the others trust us with it's completion? surely Tenshi-sama could have easily done this mission in less than a week, so why give us this task?
"Could this be a test?" I voiced up, causing Hana and stupid Akito to turn to me, they seemed to have been having the same thoughts.
"but for what?" Hana had responded, looking just as confused as I was. Stupid Akito shrugged his shoulders, looking around at the bushes that lined the path we were walking on. This was the same way we took when moving village, at least we weren't lost just yet.
"let's just complete this mission and get back as soon as we can"
"what, are you scared?" I teased, nudging his arm as we walked, he rolled his eyes and shoved his hands deeply into his pockets.
"The faster we complete this mission, the faster we can go back home and find out why we're being sent to Konoha" I huffed, crossing my arms at his boring behavior, walking away from him slightly to walk besides Hana who was quiet for the most part.
"Wait, I sense someone." The three of us tensed, coming together in case they were closer than we thought, we concealed our chakra just as Asuna-san taught us, slowly moving to the edge of the path and using the large shrubbery to hide.
"how many?" Hana whispered, Akito's eyes closed, sweat dribbling down his temple before they opened and he turned towards us.
"eight"
"eight?!" I whisper yelled, a bubbling sensation overcoming my stomach in nerves.
"shh!" he hissed back, just as we heard a crack a few feet away.
