"Rolcene! Perry! Thank God!" I cried out, and to my senses, I come to embrace the other boys. Adrian, Stanley, and Miguel was also here, and the girls, Stella, Grace, Noe, and June were looking obnoxiously at me. Bridge Carson was sitting on the corner, monitoring some screens.
They recomposed themselves, as Jet crashed on Rolcene, and the others except Noe and June were on top of each other. Looking at the dusty ceiling, I think I knew what happened.
"Where have you others been?" I asked Perry. "John and I thought we're the only ones alive!"
"No, we'll not die that easily," Rolcene said. His smile was undeniably faked, and I completely understand him. He was the kind of person that doesn't let anyone see of feel his confidence crumble.
Bridge suddenly said, "Guys, come chat later; John and Jules and Mr. Riggins need help.
"Oh, God, the zombies are coming to the hall," Perry warned. He looked panicked, and he began to press some buttons I don't know about.
I hand my bar of crazy metal to Rolcene. "Want to fight zombies?"
He shook his head, and began pushing me to the door. I had been here in the room for barely a minute, and now he's saying I should go.
I obeyed.
Outside, Mr. Riggins was slamming the old man's face on the wall.
"Come, kill me, fools!" He yelled when he saw me. His face was bloody, but Mr. Riggins had his face drenched with blood like sweat turned to red.
"Get Jules with you," said Mr. Riggins, "we'll get out of here. There's a door at the end if this corridor, opposite of the elevator John took."
The old bloke spoke again, but Mr. Riggins bumped his head again to the wall, and red spots formed on the clean white wall. "Heh," he snorted. "These two rats got out of Two's cell. Impressive, but still fools." He must be referring to me and John, and I began to wonder who's Two.
Soon, near footsteps shook on the dormant, unyielding floor. Something was coming close.
"You shut up or I'll kill you without having second thoughts," Mr. Riggins warned as he bared his teeth. "You now tell me where's the other prince. Now."
It would have been a laugh, but the old man suddenly sounded like he's gurgling blood. "I am One, and if ever died out of our plans, there's still six of us that can plan the disparity of this sick planet."
"Whoever that other six freaks are, they're nothing but living evil minds," I say.
Mr. Riggins would have probably scold me I haven't been listening to his classes about courtesy and respect for the elders, but he seemed to get my point.
"Heh," the old man snorted again. I'm feeling something bad about him getting us distracted or something. "If you think Three down to Seven is conquerable, you're wrong. Even if you escape here, get your other friends and families, kill the seven of us, you will all not live for as long as you want."
My insides went numb. In anger, Mr. Riggins slammed the bloke's head on the wall with such force unrecoverable, and when he dropped to the floor, I assumed he's dead already.
"Zombies are here!" John pointed to the third side of the hall. At our backs stood the way out teacher said would be the exit, and we raced back to the control room. My brain was racking about several things as they set Jules on one chair. He's turning light purple, and gladly he didn't die.
I was certain we could all hear zombies outside. Some were obviously banging the doors, and we did our best to stay quiet.
John was meeting the other boys, and it was tragic enough not to have Jimmy with us. Rolcene said they were still alive, but thinking about the uncertainty the outside world gives, my heart wanted to skip beats by just thinking of them.
