~John~
There has to be somewhere in this apocalyptic world today, even if it was thousand miles away, that is safe. When I say safe, it means whatever your eidetic minds can think of. Green grass, meadow of flowers, patches of vegetables, herds of cattle, water system, one-story houses not reached by this plague.
It has to be. It has to exist.
And I was having this cryptic feeling we’re near one.
The sky was already turning dark purple, and the winds that slap my face were getting colder. No one was talking, either tired or at loss for words, because maybe they were having the same thoughts as I have. Who wouldn’t want clean waters to have for a bath? Who wouldn’t get excited to the sight of healthy edible animals to feast the night out?
And who wouldn’t want to have a good night’s sleep on a comfortable bed we haven’t had for days, free from any perils to think and plan and worry about?
James was nudging me. I can barely see his face, and the headlights weren’t enough to light the road ahead. My heart was skipping beats, and voices in my head were growing louder.
I know we’re near. And I feel it.
Just as before I can realize it myself, Rolcene was already pointing ahead, sending thrill and curiosity to the others behind. There, about a good one-minute drive up ahead, was a huge area enclosed with tall walls, and its gates were unbelievably tall and seeable from here.
I pressed on the gas hard, and we zoomed forward.
