Chapter 10: The Turning Point

Matt and Caroline are walking together on one en for the hall as Bonnie and Elena are walking up the other. Elena notices Matt and Caroline smiling at one another.

"Did I miss something?" Elena asks.

"They've been hanging out," Bonnie replies.

Elena feels a pang to her heart. "Kind of weird, don't you think?" She asks as Matt and Caroline back away into their class.

"She needs someone nice like him," Bonnie says, unaware that Elena misses Matt, "opposed to a homicidal vampire like Damon."

"Yeah, how are you doing with all that?" Elena asks.

"I'm freaked out," Bonnie admits. "Damon attacked me. I could be dead right now. But I'm also grateful."

"Hmm?"

"To Stefan," Bonnie says. "He saved my life and... have you seen him?"

Elena removed her scar and goes to her locker, opening it. "Not since he told me he was leaving," Elena says as she throws the cloth inside. "For all I know, he's already gone."

"He wouldn't leave without saying goodbye," Bonnie assumes.

"Yes. He would," Elena says as she grabs her books. "He thinks he's protecting me. Clean break and all."

"So, what are you gonna do?" Bonnie asks.

"What am I supposed to do?" Elena asks and she closes her locker. "I've already begged him not to go. If I ask again, I'm being selfish. It is what it is."

"Maybe it's for the best," Bonnie says as they walk down the hall.

Elena and she looks at her friend. "What, why?"

"I mean, what kind of future could you have had with him, even if he stayed?" Bonnie asls and a batter falls that says 'The Promise of your Futurue".

"Did you just...?"

"No, I swear," a panicked Bonnie says.

Elena sighs and she hits the banner as she storms off to class. Bonnie walks after her in a pace to keep up.

Ryan is still waiting like her dad for her transcripts to be transferred so she can start school. It's taking forever for the, to even start the process, Boston High is taking for ever. Ryan oddly hates sitting at home on school days now that she's in Mystic Falls and studied its map.

Her dad won't let her leave the house because she's grounded, because she didn't mention Elena. So school would be the only... free time away from her grounding, or her cell as she calls the apartment when she's grounded.

Ryan goes to her bedroom and she grabs her notebook holding Italian recipes and she carries it with her to the living room. She then goes into the kitchen and lays the notebook down on the counter and she flips through each sheet of paper.

Ryan comes across Chicken Scallopini. She got it from a menu at s five star Italian restaurant Myra and Eleanor brought her to in Boston. She loved it and she wrote it down. The Restaurant shared their recipes with the cream Italian chefs. Ryan knows a bunch of recipes from different countries, it's why she has Alaric burying odd foods for ingredients at the store... for when she feels cultural to cook something different, like german foods or Russian. Or like now, Italian.
