Chapter 22: Founders' Day

"Ouch!" Elena gasps. "This dress hurts."

She is in her bedroom with Jenna and Ryan, getting ready for the founder's day float. She's putting an era appropriate dress and it had a corset.

"Suck it in, baby," Jenna says as Ryan puts Elena's vervain necklace on her.

"Thank you, Ryan."

Elena and Ryan walk across the school yard to where the Salvatore brothers are and when they see Elena dressed up, they both state, shocked. Ryan smirks at her doing, her and Elena had the idea to make Elena look like Katherine from 1864.

Elena smiles and she curtsies. Ryan smiles and she jogs over and jumps on Damon's back. Damon catches her legs and hoists her up a bit more for a piggy back ride.

Ryan goes over to where Caroline and Matt are taking pictures together, and Care pulls over into one of them. And she takes one with her alone. And Ryan takes one with Matt. Bonnie is taking them with a smile on her face, and then Tyler walks up.

Both Ryan and Matt walk away.

Ryan walks up beside Damon as the floats go by. Damon wraps an arm around her and pulls her into him, making her smile as Mystic Falls' high school marching band goes by playing their intrumentd. Ryan grins and she lets out a wolf whistle as her dad's float comes by; the one for the historical department.

Tyler and Jeremy are dressed as soldiers from the Battle of Willow Creek.

"Go Jeremy!" Ryan yells and she sees his face turn red. "We love you!"

Tyler and Jeremy just continue to each each other to please the crowd. Damon keeps an arm around Ryan, Bonnie doesn't day one bad thing to him because she knows it'll upset Ryan.

"Here comes Elena!" Ryan points to the float holding the Miss Mystic Court and their escorts.

Stefan and Elena, Matt and Caroline.

"Caroline!" Ryan squeals. "I love you!"

"I love you, too!" She yells back and she waves at the crowd.

Damon smiles at Ryan and he looks back to the parade, also ignoring Bonnie, who is now glaring daggers into the back of his skull.

"You feel better?" Ryan asks Elena when she's finally in her modern clothes.

"Much," Elena replies as they walk up to Damon in the Geill.

"This is better," Damon states as he looks at Elena. "The period look, it... didn't suit you."

"Is that an insult?" Elena asks, unsure of rather to be offended or not.

"Actually Elena, it's a compliment of the highest order," Damon says and he looks at Ryan. "Hey, Ryan."

"Hey," Ryan greets and she looks around. "Today's been good."

"It has," Damon replies.

"I'm going to go get food," Ryan says suddenly and she walks away.

"You warming up to having a sister her?" Damon asks Elena.

"Not yet," Elena replies. "It's like I know I have a twin sister, but it doesn't seem.... real. We haven't known about each other for seventeen years."

"You should take time and get to know her," Damon says. "Trust me," he says as he glances at the girl sitting with Matt and Caroline, stuffing her face with chilli cheese fries, "Ryan's worth it."

Elena looks at her and she sighs. "It's not easy."

"I know," Damon replies and he walks away.

Ryan is walking around the square and a girl walks up to her.

"Are you Ryan?" She sand and Ryan nods. "I'm Anna... you, um, you hunt vampires, right?"

"Yes, why?" Ryan asks as Damon listens nearby, she's awake.

"I need to tell you something, that you need to know," Anna says.

"What is it?" Ryan asks her, growing concerned.

"The vampires from the tomb are planning an attack tonight," Anna claims.

"Ok, but how do you know?" Ryan asks.

"I went to them," Anna admits. "They think I'm with them but I'm not. They want the founding families dead."

"When's it supposed to happen?" Ryan asks.

"When the fireworks start..."

"I'll talk to my vampire companions," Ryan says. "Oh and Anna, it was nice to finally meet you."

Anna smiles and she nods. "You too, Ryan Saltzman."

Ryan looks at Damon and he nods before they walk in separate ways. Ryan ends up returning to the grill, knowing Damon's nod means to be anywhere else but the town square. She enters right as mayor Lockwood grabs Tyler and Tyler shouts at him to let him go.

"Ryan, come with us," Caroline pleads.

Ryan nods and she follows them out to the mayor's car.

Tyler is driving with Caroline in the front, Ryan is in the back with Matt.

"What the hell is that?" Tyler groans out suddenly.

"What's the matter?" Carokine asks.

"That noise!"

"What noice?" Ryan asks.

Tyler lets go of the wheel, screaming and grabbing his head, and loses control of the car. Caroline tried grabbing the wheel, but the car crashes into a wall, throwing causing everyone to hit their heads. Ryan and Caroline hit their heads, Ryan's hit her window.

Caroline is awake for now and she is worried, Ryan is our and there are no vampires around to save her, to heal her. When she or Ryan needed them the most, that's when they don't show up and Caroline hates it.

Caroline likes at Ryan's body until she faints and Matt calls Alaric off Caroline's phone.

"Hey, carokine."

"Mr. Saltzman, there's been an accident."
