Chapter 56: The Ties That Bind

Ryan steps out onto her porch in her flannel pajama pants and spaghetti strap and finds a jewelry box.

For being my friend.
Klaus.

Ryan opens the jewelry box and finds an expensive diamond tennis bracelet. Ryan takes it out of the box and she puts it on the other arm, her one arm has Elijah's gift and this one now has Klaus's.

Klaus and Ryan are in the boarding house, Klaus is in a chair while Ryan is sitting in one of the couches. She is reading one of the books from the library. Stefan walks in and he turns the loud music down.

"What are you doing here, Klaus?" Stefan asks. "Little Klaus?"

"Enjoying our stalemate," Klaus says, ignoring the fact Stefan called Ryan mini Klaus.

"What do you want?" Stefan asks as Ryan minds her business, reading; her jacket is on the coat rack, so the shine of her tennis bracelet is bright.

"The question is... what do you want?" Ryan asks.

"My hybrids have left town," Klaus says, "as you demanded. So please tell me what I need to do to get my family back."

"Well, see.... Klaus, I'm not negotiating," Stefan says.

"And you understand that holding them indefinitely is the same thing as dropping them in the ocean?" Klaus asks.

"No, no," Stefan shakes his head. "You leave Mystic Falls and then give me a call in a few years and we'll talk."

"I can give you one more chance," Klaus says. "Just one more. Let's make a reasonable deal."

"Or what?" Stefan scores. "You make one move and I will drop..."

Klaus laughs, cutting him off. "Yes, right. Crazy Stefan. How is that working out for you? Any friends left?"

Klaus grabs his phone and he calls Daniel. "How's life omg the road?"

"Scenic," Daniel replies as Ryan goes to the bathroom. "How's life on Mystic Falls without any hybrids?"

"Boring," Klaus replies. "For now."

"If you or Ryan want us back, just say the word," Daniel says.

"There's no need," Klaus replies. "I've been making friends with the town civil servants. There's a deputy, obnoxiously chatty, but useful nonetheless. You're clear. What do you need?"

"I got it covered," Daniel says.

Ryan sits at Klaus's while he goes to the old witch house, he found the where. As Ryan suspected, Daniel was a big help. She adores Daniel. He's one of her favorites left, Mindy was her other favorite but Stefan killed her because hes 'crazy Stefan' right now.

"Daniel!" Ryan smiles as her favorite hybrid shoved a coffin into the room, Klaus following. "Hey. You found them?"

"Hello, ma'am," Daniel greets.

"It's... you know, never mind," Ryan says. "Go get the rest," Ryan says. "I'll roll this one to the room."

Daniel nods and Ryan pushes the Mikaelson into an empty room. Ryan walks in as Daniel brings in another, and then he goes to get the last. Ryan touches Klaus's arm, and he grins at her until suddenly, Daniel falls dead.

"No!" Ryan exclaims and she runs to his side. "Why is it always the ones I like?" She looks up and instead of seeing Stefan like she expected, she sees Elijah. "Elijah?"

"Hello, butterfly," Elijah greets and he looks at a shocked Klaus, Daniel's heart in hand. "So, Niklaus..."

"Elijah!" Klaus gasps.

"What did I miss?"
