Chapter 43: As I Lay Dying

The ritual that night of the full moon went as planned for Klaus, but not so much for everyone else. Where Damon saves Caroline and Tyler from being used as sacrifices, Klaus had already thought ahead and gotten backups. Jenna was turned into a vampire and used, and Jules was the werewolf because she came into town with Tyler, mistakenly.

Elijah almost went through with his promise but before he could rip Klaus's heart out, Klaus told him he'd reunite him with their family. Elijah's betrayals lost Ryan's respect and her trust, which hurt Elijah more than he had thought it would. But even bough Elijah went against his word, Ryan still wore the bracelet.

Klaus completed his task at hand and he ran for nearly two days as a werewolf and when he woke, the full moon had come and passed. Elijah was cleaning up his messes along the way.

While Damon was saving Tyler and Caroline, Tyler began to turn. He had bit Damon accidentally. He apologized to Elena for giving her his blood, for which he wasn't forgiven. He apologized to Ryan for everything he's done to wrong her, she wouldn't speak to him. Then he tried to kill himself by taking off his daylight ring and standing in front of a window in the boarding house living room. Stefan had to tackle him out of the way and save him.

When Ryan finally found out Damon was dying, she was devastated. She went to his room when he got worse - after tried killing him and ended up shooting Jeremy, instead -, to lay with him. This is where they finally fold each other that they loved each other but neither one of them were ready to get back together yet.

Stefan had went to the witch house to find a cure for Damon's werewolf bites and they had said Klaus. Then the youngest Salvatore went to Llaus for help and in exchange for helping save his brother's life, Stefan had to give himself over to the dark side and go with Klaus. Katherine was sent with the cure, Klaus's blood, and she helped save Damon's life. Katherine was also the one to tell them that Stefan gave himself to Klaus.

Alaric realized just how much he grew to care about Damon as both a son and a good friend when Ryan gave him the call that Damon was dying, Ryan told him while crying the entire time she spoke.

When Klaus went to visit Ryan after the ritual and to tell her sorry for her losses, she slapped the holy hell out of him, half scared it would piss him off. But it didn't, the slap did quite the opppsite. Klaus smiled at her and said he liked her, her crazies, and her braveness. And told her he hoped she'd contact him while he was gone, he left her his number and everything.

Elijah was daggered when Klaus brought him back to Ryan's apartment, where Ryan had invited him into before he was killed by her friends. Ryan doesn't know this, Klaus didn't tell her because he saw how close she was to him, despite Elijah's going against his word. The fact Ryan still wore the bracelet Elijah gave to her was why Klaus didn't tell her Elijah was daggered.

Jeremy had died when sheriff Forbes shot him and Bonnie went agaisnt the witche's and her Grams's orders, against nature, and she brought him back to life. And she knew there were consequences. But she doesn't know what they are.

When Jeremy finally gets home thst night, he realizes he is able to see ghosts. He had seen the ghost of Vicki Donovan, who was killed by Ryan Saltzman, and Anna, who was killed on Founder's Day in a burning basement.
