Chapter 53: Homecoming

Ryan sits in the Salvatore library with Rebekah, she is painting her toenails and they're talking about everything while they wait for Mikael to wake up. Rebekah likes talking to Ryan because of how outspoken she is and how direct and open she is when she speaks.

The two females eventually hear a cough and Rebekah turns her head, she sees Mikael getting up.

"Finally," Rebekah says. "Took you long enough."

"Rebekah," Mikael speaks.

"Whatever fatherly rubbish you're thinking, save it. Nothing you say matters to me," Rebekah demands. "Ryan, this is my father, Mikael. Father. This is Ryan, a good friend."

"Hello," Mikael greets.

Ryan smirks at him. "Hey, papa original."

Mikael only nods come. "Where is my dagger?"

"Ryan has it," Rebekah says, Mikael's dagger is in her bag for safe keeping. "So you can forget your plans to use it on me."

"She's right, sorry," Ryan says fully as she finishes Rebekah's toes. "Done!"

"You were never what I was after," Mikael says to Rebekah.

"Nik was my family," Rebekah says.  "If you were after him, you were after me."

"Family above all, it's the only thing that counts in this world anymore," Ryan mumbles. "Family."

"He's blinded you, Rebekah," Mikael demands after her nods in agreement with Ryan. "He killed your mother!"

"I know what he did, and he'll pay for in with his life," Rebekah replies as Ryan drinks her bourbon that's laced with liquid vervain. "But Nik was not born a killer - none of us were! You did this to us when you turned us into vampires? You destroyed this family. Not him."

"It is nice to meet you, Mikael," Ryan says when Rebekah walks out.

Mikael takes her hand and he kisses the back of it. "It is an honor to meet you, Ryan. You make my daughter smile."

Ryan smiles. "I try. She's awesome. I'm gonna go home and prepare myself for the homecoming dance. I'll see you later, papa?"

Mikael chuckles. "You certainly will, little killer."

Ryan smiles and she leaves the house.

He looks at the Salvatore's, who look worried. "Don't worry. I like her."

"She has that effect," Damon mumbles. "People fear her but love her..

"I see it," Mikael replies. "She will be a strong vampire."
