Chapter Nine
Steal"Grant." I stopped on mid step when I saw him waiting by the living room. My mom's with him. His head turned when I called his name. I witnessed how his eyes brightened at the sight of me, and I tried hard to shake off the guilt. "Why are you..."
"It's your first day."
The guilt inside me completely disappeared and my weary was replaced with happiness. A bright and honest grin formed in my lips. "You remembered."
It's been four days kasi simula nang mag-usap kami ni Grant. He went on a business trip out of the country and he was too busy to communicate. The time zone was different that's why he couldn't afford to call. Grant has never been fond of texting, kaya hindi ko na iyon hiningi pa sa kanya. He didn't need to. He got mad at me because of that. I ended up apologizing because I realized how insensitive I was.
"Of course. I promised to be there on your first day, didn't I?" I smiled at Grant, shaking my head. I took a step to close the distance between us and reached for him to give him a hug. He wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his head on the top of my head, placing a kiss on the crown of my head.
I must admit, I missed Grant's hug and the comfort it brings to me. I missed his voice. I missed his forehead kisses. I missed him, period. Hindi naman siguro masama. Nakasanayan ko na ang presence ni Grant. For three years, palagi siyang nasa tabi ko kaya hindi ko iyon maiiwasan.
Mommy interupted us by clearing her throat. Grant released me from our hug but didn't give me a chance to step away from him because his arm remained glued on the lower part of my back.
"We're going na, Mommy."
"Oh, bakit hindi ka muna kumain ng breakfast?"
"It's okay, Tita. I brought something for Maxwell to eat." Napatingin naman ako agad kay Grant. I looked at him expectedly when he transferred his eyes on me.
"You did?" I raised a brow at him.
"Yes, love." My eyes widened at Grant's boldness. He didn't even stutter!
"Alright, early love birds. I'm going to head up and get ready for work. Take care of our princess." My mother leaned in to kiss me on the cheek and did the same to Grant before leaving us behind.
Grant's car was already waiting for us outside. He opened the car door for me and I stepped in. I clicked my seatbelt in place as Grant got something from the backseat before sliding in to the driver's seat.
