Chapter One
Back

As soon as our professor dismissed the class, students from my class started to rush out of the room while other students start to rush in. I took my time with fixing my things, absolutely not caring if some are looking at me with estranged looks. I’ve always loved the attention anyway. Some girls were giggling when they went inside the room that caught my attention and I think I have an idea why.

Tumayo ako sa kinauupuan ko. I walked straight to their direction. Hindi sila nakatingin sa dinadaanan nila. They were too busy sniggering and it annoyed me.

When they finally noticed my presence, they all froze with their eyes widening. They probably realized who I am. Good. I frowned at them in obvious distaste.

“M-Miss Maxwell.” One of them had the guts to say my name.

I raised an eyebrow. “You all sounded like a crying pig who’s about to get butchered. It’s irritating.”

I don’t know how they made it possible but their eyes got widened even more. They all paled at what I said and that pleased me a little. I gave them a triumphant smirk. “Just thought you, girls, should know.” I threw them a wink before leaving the room.

That was a little too tamed for my liking but I’ve been tamed for years so I don’t know what difference it makes. It sounds horrible, I know. I’m still occasionally mean but I’ve never schemed or laid a finger on anyone and it’s… awful. Though I still find time to laugh at other’s demise and say things that will make some people tremble, but that’s about it. It’s like I don’t have a reason to be mean anymore. I feel… completely incomplete. Less… me.

When I got out of the room, I saw the reason why the girls were squealing like babes. There he is, leaning his back against the wall—standing like he just came out of the bachelor’s magazine. He’s wearing a long sleeves black polo shirt which is hugging his body tight. Even with clothes on, I could still picture how drool worthy his body is. My eyes darted back to his face and first noticed his red lips. His lips looked like it wanted to be kissed. His jaw, his nose, his eyebrows—his face basically shouts perfection. I sighed.

His expressive eyes were set on the ground, staring blankly at it. Kulang na lang ng lights at camera, mukhang photoshoot na. I shook my head. Now I’m tempted to squeal like the girls did earlier. Just not like a pig. If I’m going to gush, then I’m going do it with class.

Siyempre, ako pa? I’m basically the epitome of sophistication.

“Why are you here?” Not wanting to ogle over him any further, I walked closer which caught his attention. He removed his gaze from the ground to give all of his attention to me.

“Hey,” A warm smile played on his lips as adoration began to fill his eyes. My tummy started turning and the unwanted guilt started to fill me in again. I sighed.

“What are you doing here, Grant?” It sounded harsh than I intended it to be. I saw the flash of hurt in Grant’s eyes but it quickly disappeared within split seconds. I don’t think it even lasted. “Sorry. Shouldn’t you be in… Japan?”
