"Fuck, what a bitter ass." rinig ko ang pagkainis sa boses ni Kade. Ako naman ay medyo lutang pa. Naiwan ko yata ang utak ko sa loob ng meeting room. My brain can't process what just happened. All I know is there's a sting in the center of my chest.

"How can you still be in love with that asshole? Kahit na sabihin natin may kasalanan ka at galit siya sayo, he shouldn't have embarassed you like that. You don't deserve to be treated like trash."

Ramdam ko ang galit ni Kade. Napakagat ako sa labi ko. Kinakampihan lang naman niya ako pero parang gusto kong ipagtanggol si Rush mula sa kanya. Pero baka kapag ginawa ko iyon ay sa akin naman siya magalit. I think Rush being mad at me is more than enough. I don't need Kade to turn his back on me too.

"Naiintindihan ko naman siya. Rush had always been ruthless to everyone."

"Except you."

"That was before, he hates me now. I would have reacted worse kung ako ang nasa posisyon niya."

Nagtagis ang bagang ni Kade. Ayaw ko ng pag-usapan pa ang nangyari. Ngumisi na lang ako kay Kade at napabuntong hininga naman siya dahil doon. Umiling-iling siya kahit na hindi pa rin natatanggal ang lukot sa mukha niya. He's still annoyed. And he'll probably stay that way for hours.

"Let's just go. I'm going to treat you some ice cream."

Ibinalik ko ang tingin sa pinto ng conference room at napakagat ng labi. "I'm..." tiningnan ko si Kade na hinihintay ang sasabihin ko. "Going to stay here and wait for him."

Napanganga si Kade. "What?"

"I'm going to wait for Rush. You said that I needed to talk him."

"Maxie, that was before he embarassed you in front of the board."

I pursed my lips. "He's just trying to be professional. Hindi naman kasi tama yung pag-uusap natin while someone's presenting in front. Bakit kasi tumawa-tawa ka pa kanina?" pinanliitan ko ng mga mata ni Kade at napauwang ang labi niya na parang hindi makapaniwala at maya-maya ay napailing na lang at natawa.

"At ngayon kasalanan ko pa?" he chuckled. Kade looked genuinely amused. Nawala na ang inis sa mukha niya. "You're really in love with that devil."

I tipped my chin, raising my brow at him. Kade laughed again, ending it with a wide grin.

"I don't know what to do with you anymore, Maxwell." umiling-iling siya. Nang hindi ako sumagot ay ipinagpatuloy niya ang pagsasalita. "You know what? Aalis na lang ako. You won't listen to me anyway."

Ginulo ni Kade ang ibabaw ng buhok ko kaya tinapik ko naman ang kamay niya palayo. Kumindat lang siya sa akin nang umangil ako sa kanya.

Umalis si Kade at ako naman ay naiwan na nakatayo sa tapat ng conference room at tinitingnan ang pinto. Matagal-tagal pa bago matapos ang meeting pero hihintayin ko talaga si Rush. Kailangan ko siyang kausapin. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin ko sa kanya, pero kakausapin ko pa rin siya. I'll apologize. I don't know what to explain, but I'll do that to if he asks. I'll plead him to take me back. I'll beg if I have to. If he wants me to grovel, I will. I just want him back.

While waiting, I busied myself with my phone. I should have gone some place where I could sit, or wait in Grant's office, but I want to be here the moment Rush comes out. After this meeting, they'll probably be heading out for lunch and I couldn't let lunch pass because I will have to return back to the office by that time.

My feet were hurting that I had half a mind to just sit on the floor when the door opened. I stood up straight and my heart beat sped up when Rush came out first. He froze when his eyes met mine but it only lasted for a second when he started walking again. I waited for him to walk in my way but he didn't, so I followed him to the elevator.
