"May gusto akong kuhain sa likod ng school. Kaso nakalock."
Natigil ako sa pagkain ng hawak kong mansanas nang biglang sumubsob yung mukha ni Alliston sa bag nya.
"What is it ba?" I asked her. Nandito kami ngayon sa rooftop. Actually, dito na yung naging tambayan ko. Lalo pa at hinahunting ako lagi ni Hariette because I humiliated her friend, Railey. The last time, she almost got me killed.
Good thing my angel is working to rescue me. Kung hindi nya siguro ako pinatid, I won't drop the poisonous drink.
"Yung tennis racket ko. I once brought it because I really want to play. But it was confiscated."
"Sure ka na nakalagay doon?" Mula sa binabasang libro ay umangat yung tingin ko sa kanya.
"Sort of." Sabi pa nito. Pagkatapos ay inusisa yung librong binabasa ko. "Why are you reading such book? We're just in gradeschool, Grant. Who reads books about Law at our age?"
"I got this in my father's library."
"Kids ought to enjoy being kids." Sabi pa nito. "Why don't you play hide and seek with us?"
Umiling lang ako. My father always tell me not to play with other kids. I might hurt them. I seldom feel empathy towards other kids. Most of the time, I had to fake being affected and kind pa. Just so he won't be mad.
But really, I am more fascinated to see a wounded knee of the kid I accidentally hit at bumagsak sa sahig or an oozing blood from a wounded arm ng kalaro ko na natusok ko ng hawak kong ballpen. I don't feel sorry for them though.
"Bakit ba masyado kang nagmamadaling tumanda, Grant?" "Naiintindihan mo ba yan?"
"Yeah. It's so easy to read this. My Dad can even cite this all kahit natutulog sya. That's why he never runs out of arguments with everyone."
"He must probably old na kasi."
Napaisip naman ako. He is in his early forties. So yeah, probably old na nga.
"We're just ten years old, Grant. Kids our age naglalaro pa nga ng barbie dolls e. Don't you have toys?"
"I have books. Why would I need toys?"
"Books are for dorks." Idiniin pa nito iyon. "Toys are for kids."
Napatango na lang ako. Maybe she's right. "Then maybe I'm a dork."
Natatawang napailing na lang sakin si Alliston.
"You're really weird. If I have atleast half your brain, my life would be exciting." Tugon pa nito.
"Talk to the Royal blood or to the Genius kid. It will be exciting." kumagat ulit ako sa apple na hawak ko at saka tumayo. Tumingin ako sa baba ng rooftop.
Medyo padilim na din. Wala na naman na siguro si Hariette. Makakauwi na din siguro ako.
"Grant, di ba na-open mo yung locker dati ni Kayleigh?"
Yeah. I did. Kayleigh is so distressed that time kasi naiwan nito yung susi sa locker nito for our P.E class. I just noticed it dahil huli akong lumabas ng changing room matapos makapagpalit ng PE uniform.
So I asked her kung anong problema nya. So I opened it for her. It's so easy naman. I have been doing that sa tuwing nilolock nila Daddy at Mommy yung library.
