Roman was your typical high school popular guy. A theatre kid at heart and local PROM king. Loved and adored by literally everyone. 1000% Gay but every student assumed he was straight

Virgil was the opposite. A loner Emo. A guy who you wouldn't want to mess with or be friends with. Can be found alone on campus. Gay and in the closet, too scared by people's reactions

It was PROM season

Roman was excited
Virgil was terrified

Everyone at school thought that Roman was straight, like the narrator said. So girls from all over school would ask to be his one and only date

Roman would reject them all, saying multiple times that he's gay. Girls would not have it, saying that they're perfect for each other. Roman managed to get out of the swarms of females via teachers

Virgil didn't care about PROM, he hated large social gatherings and parties. His anxiety would skyrocket to the moon and back. He basically avoided the thing all together, saying that he was sick

Roman and Virgil were seniors, a year before college. Senior PROM was mandatory. Virgil was screwed

After a huge swarm and sea of the opposite gender asking for a date, Roman spotted Virgil under a tree. Roman admired Virgil from afar, always crushing on him in the hallways and by their lockers.

Roman decided to talk to him, maybe ask him to PROM, and also Virgil was alone and needed a friend.

He approached the Emo under the tree, quietly eating a apple and sketching

What do you want, popular guy?

{Roman}
I always see you alone, do you want a friend?

¥Virgil¥
Sure, I guess

{Roman}
Cool. It's PROM season, do you have a date?

¥Virgil¥
No, I usually avoid the whole thing all together because I hate parties and my anxiety skyrockets. Let me guess, you have one already and you're pitying on the Emo loser

{Roman}
Actually I don't, girls keep swarming me even though I tell them multiple times that I'm gay

So, Mr popular guy is gay? Wow. Never would have pegged you on that one. I'm also gay, but I'm too worried about other people's reactions

{Roman}
Yeah, surprise. So...do you want to go with me?

Sure, why not

Great! We can talk about arrangements if you're gonna get panicky during the night if you want

~Skip to the special night~

Roman arranged a little something with the teachers, he set up a spot on the grounds just for themselves so that Virgil doesn't get panicked

Roman picked out a white suit with a red dress shirt underneath. He asked his parents if he could drive the car to pick up Virgil. They agreed. Roman drove to Virgil's house. He knocked on the door with a bunch of purple and red roses in his hand

Virgil opened the door. Roman was stunned on how handsome his date was

Virgil was wearing his normal purple patched hoodie with a purple shirt underneath. Around his neck is a purple and black tie with white stitches (his S v S outfit)

Roman smiled and gave the flowers to Virgil
Virgil smelled them and inhaled their scent

The two got in Romans car and drove to the school. Roman lead Virgil to the spot for the two of them

It was where they first met. Strings of fairy lights were on some branches of the tree, lighting up the dark sky. A picnic blanket and basket was on the ground. On a nearby table was 2 crowns saying Prom King on both of them

Virgil was amazed on how Roman managed to pull off something like this. They sat down under the tree on the blanket, eating food from inside the basket and making small talk. Later, they got crowned King and King by themselves

Roman decided to confess to his crush

{Roman}
Hey Virgil?

¥Virgil¥
Yeah, Roman?

{Roman}
I like you, I have been for a while. If you don't like me, I understand

I uh, like you too Roman

Virgil blushed a little
Roman smiled

Roman leaned in and softly kissed Virgil
Virgil kissed back
They pulled away

The next day, everyone was shocked that Roman has a boyfriend and Virgil finally had someone to be with
