Virgil went to the LIBRARY today. He needed a quiet spot since his roommates Janus and Remus were loud and obnoxious. His friend Patton also wanted him to get some social interaction and he is friends with Logan, the librarian

His favorite section were the comic books because the Killjoy and Black Parade comics were in stock along with the Darker Fairytales like the Grimms Brothers

Today, Virgil felt like checking out the Darker Fairytales today. He perused through until he spotted a strange and out of place looking book

It was titled How Will You Die? Virgil opened it up and saw instructions on the first page

Simply think of a number, Find how you will die inside these pages

Virgil thinks of 111 and finds the page

Fall in love with Death himself and become his Queen, your life will be spared. Instead of dying, you will become it

The ground started to open, Virgil tried to run away but the hole got bigger and closer, eventually swallowing him deeper and deeper underground

Virgil reached the ground unharmed. He could spot a worn iron gate across from him. Virgil walked to it, it opened on his own.

Virgil walked through the gate, his body began to de-materialize, turning purple. A trail of purple butterflies followed behind him and a crown sat on top of his head

He saw a de-materialized red man across from him. A trail of sparkles followed him and a crown was on his head as well

Virgil felt instantly attracted to the man, wondering if this is Death himself

The man held out his hands for Virgil to take. Virgil walked and took the mans hands into his own

Looks like The book chose right this time

What do you mean the book chose right?

{Roman}
When someone picks page 111, they will go down here. If they walk through the gate and don't de-materialize, then the book chose wrong. You were the only one who de-materialized

Ok, so what's the deal with the Queen thing?

Death has always been lonesome and was slated to not fall in love, so I thought why not break the rules and see who was destined to be my Queen on page 111

Oh, is this a Hades and Persephone thing or do I stay with you forever?

We don't have to copy my good friend Hades, we can stay here forever

Roman is my proper name

You can call me Virgil. To be honest I don't like it that much

You're named after my other good friend, Virgil the Roman Poet! He escorted someone named Dante into the 9 circles of hell

Virgil nods his head as he gets escorted into Romans castle. They were inside a large room, red flame torches filled the walls. A long dark gray carpet patterned with skulls was on the floor. A big hourglass was on a platform

What's with the hourglass?

The grains of sand on top represents the living, when they fall to the bottom, they die. We can look very closely at the sand and see every tiny grain has a name

Ok, what happens when they die?

Their soul travels here, their body gets buried or burnt into ashes

Virgil nods as he and Roman walk up a staircase. When they got to the top, Virgil saw a semi circle of 11 doors all labeled

Doors 1-9 all had the names of the circles of hell

Door 1-Limbo
Door 2-Lust
Door 3-Gluttony
Door 4-Greed
Door 5-Wrath
Door 6-Heresy
Door 7-Violence
Door 8-Fraud
Door 9-Central Well of Malebolge

Roman explained that Door 10 is their private chambers and Door 11 is an empty space

Virgil nods as they enter their chambers, sitting down on the soft black covers

Kind of, it's my job to make sure they're running smoothly even with the help of their respective guardians/enforcers. Like what if a soul escapes from their circle or something, it's my job and/or guardians job to place them where they belong

Virgil nods and yawns, sleepily laying his head on Romans shoulder. Death smiled and laid himself and his Queen down, tucking themselves in the black covers

Virgil tried to grasp the whole ruling thing, doubting his new life more. Roman reassured him that he is perfect for this, it will take getting used to but Virgil still kept doubting

One night while Roman was sleeping, Virgil left Deaths domain, running to the worn iron gates. It was locked but there was a note, Virgil recognized a page from Romans book being used as the paper

You will accept your fate as Deaths Queen in time. Do not run away from your domain. Your gifts are much stronger here then on the Living World. Stay here safe with Roman, up there can be cruel for people like you now. My page will come true

Virgil turned around to see Roman standing across from him

Don't ever doubt yourself Darling, you were born to stay and rule with me, I promise

Virgil ran over into his arms, trying not to cry. Death hugged his Queen, spinning him around

Virgil stayed with Roman, falling more and more in love with him like what the book said

Virgil got crowned in a private ceremony, later having the wedding day after a few weeks

As Roman and Virgil got bound by love, the purple butterflies flew over, merging with the red sparkles

Death and His Queen ruled over their kingdom, watching the sand in the hourglass drop every day and making sure the circles don't get into trouble
