"So the girl of your dreams came and picked you up and you didn't get her number or anything? Pffttt mate you've lost your charm" said Larry with a grin on his face

"Mate it wasn't like an 'oh she's fit' though, it was more 'wow she's beautiful'" he just shook his head and laughed at me.

"Not being funny lad but you've rambled on about how beautiful she is and how she 'saved you' for the last 10 minutes, you know where she lives, why'd you not get her flowers or somet" Benji was always the smartest one out of us, he's been with the same girl for the last year so he probably knew what he was talking about.

I followed Benjis advice and as I was walking up her drive with some flowers in my hands I began thinking maybe it's a bit forward, then again I was just being nice. I rang the doorbell but was greeted with a 'fuck off scott' being shouted from inside the house. Scott? I'm not Scott? I was just going to leave it and come back tomorrow, I figured it was probably a bad time but then I remembered that she picked me up and took me home so I wasn't lying in the middle of the streets so maybe I could return the favour.

"I'm not Scott. Uhhh it's me, erm van" I shouted through the letter box and soon I heard the door unlock I was greeted with the girl who I had last seen with a huge smile on her face, only this time her eyes were all red and her cheeks were stained with tears.

"I got you these to say thank you for the other night" Her bloodshot eyes lit up when I handed them to her. "Is Scott an ex boyfriend? Been in your position many times myself" She nodded her head in response to me and then opened the door wider to invite me inside. Unlike last time, she was wearing a dressing gown and a pair of fluffy socks but somehow she still looked amazing.

As I was sitting there on the corner of her couch she wandered through with two cups of tea, the tear stains had vanished from her face and the smile she wore when I first met her was back where it belonged.

"I'm fine honest, just a messy breakup" The way she spoke gave me the impression she thought it was stupid to be crying over her breakup but it wasn't, it was a shame that she thought that.

"My ex girlfriend was a psychopath but I was oblivious to it cause I was in love with her, until she messed with my best mate. Then I was like 'nah love you need to be a more considerate' but she took it the wrong way and we finished but she told everyone I slept with my cousin which nobody believed of course but it was still weird. So how was your breakup?" She looked at me with a shocked look on her face, after all it did sound like I was making it up which I really wish I was.

"Pffftttt nothing compared to that. I just had doubts the whole time you know? Like a gut feeling something wasn't right and then he got drunk and told me he never actually loved me, he just liked knowing someone was there for him. Drunk words are sober thoughts you know. That was enough for me, tipped me over the edge and I realised I was better without him." What I expected was a sad look to take over her face but instead, a look of pride took its place instead, as if she was proud that she came to her senses.

We spent the next hour ranting about our exes, the boys were good to rant to but you can only say so much without them getting sick of it however Olivia could relate. We had so much in common and the more she spoke the more intelligent I realised she was, as much as she wanted to hate her ex, she couldn't. I don't think she had an ounce of hate inside of her unlike me, she was fair and always seen the other side of the argument, even when it was clear her ex was a pile of shit.

"This might sound really... forward but you're really beautiful Olivia. Inside and out" her cheeks became a pinkish colour and her mouth formed the smile that attracted me to her so much. She mentioned that he never called her beautiful or gave her compliments unless they were the stupid backhanded ones that mean pretty much nothing.

"Thank you Van, you know you're not too bad yourself but you are wearing odd socks so that kind of sets you back a bit" she teased back

"Oi, they look odd but they feel the exact same."

"Christ" she shook her head and laughed, running her hand through her stunning brown hair.

"You're different to everyone else I know. You're so good natured and intelligent"

"You're a proper charmer aren't you?"

"I'm a songwriter darling it's in my blood" I joked back as she looked at me surprised.

"Songwriter?"

"In a band called catfish and the bottlemen, we actually just got a record deal"

"Oh my god that's amazing! You've got to let me listen to yous! My dad was in a band!"

"You should come to mine tomorrow, we were gonna go over a few tunes just before we take them to the studio, the lids wouldn't mind" they'd probably love it actually.

"Uhh sure, fuck it why not."

"Well I better get going so I'll see you tomorrow? I can pick you up?"

"Yeah cool" I grabbed my jacket and made my way to her front door after placing my empty cup of tea in her sink.

"Van? Thank you for the flowers and the company, all my friends were Scott's friends so I'm on my own now pretty much, so thank you I honestly really appreciate it" The tone in her voice always sounded so genuine, to still baffled me that her ex treated her the way he did but she was away from that now which was good.

"It's nothing compared to what you did for me love, I'll see you tomorrow at 8?"

We shared a hug just before I left, it wasn't until this moment I realised how much smaller she was than me, I could probably wrap my arms round her twice. A few days ago she saw me on the pavement with a burst lip asleep and took me to hers to patch me up and now we were here, I've not known her long but we've shared so much with each other despite barely knowing each other.
