Van
"There he is!" Exclaimed my mum as she ran towards me, pulling me in for a hug. My dad soon followed and his big strong arms were wrapped around my skinny body for the first time in forever.
"You should've brought Olivia! We're dying to meet her!" Pleaded mum while we walked back up the drive into the house I grew up in.
"She's working but I'm 'aving tea at hers tonight so we'll come see Yous tomorrow or summet"
The kitchen is still the exact same, mum and dad are sat at one side of the table with their cuppas and I'm sat at the other with my glass of orange juice. Somehow they never got bored of the stories I had to tell them about the tour, it always made them laugh, especially the ones about Larry as they've known him years and he hasn't changed one bit.
Now it was my parents turn to tell me about life since I've been away and there was nothing interesting really. The local pub we used to always get kicked out of for being underage has become one of our biggest support clubs apparently, probably because nobody from here ever really gets big and some songs of ours are being played on radio stations across the country which is unheard of. A group of four scrawny boys that were known for being right pains in the arse, passing round cd's with a bunch of demos on them after gigs are now being played on big radio stations.
The time was now half 5 in the evening and I know Livs last meeting finished at 5 so she'll be back home by now. Somehow I felt nervous to see her again, it's been so long and I've missed her so much.
"Enjoy your night sweetheart, it's good to 'av you home. Even if it's just for a week" Mum give me a goodbye hug as I pulled my leather jacket over my shoulders.
"Tell Olivia she's welcome round here whenever she likes, mist be difficult having your parents up in Scotland." Shouted my dad from the front door, it didn't come as a surprise that they were so involved in me and Olivias relationship but it made me happy.
Finally I was walking the streets of my home town on my way to Livs house. This town was full of memories, that pavement I passed out on where Olivia came to my rescue, that wall Larry fell off and broke his arm when we were kids, everywhere turn I took led to me being faced with a new memory until I reached her door.
She didn't answer first time so I rang the bell again, she was definitely in, the kitchen light is on. Still no answer. On my way here I texted her telling her I'd be five minutes and she replied saying she couldn't wait so she's definitely in, 100%. Four times I've rung the doorbell and she still hasn't answered. Somethings not adding up, I even shouted through her letterbox but she still hadn't answered the door. That's when I remembered she keeps a spare key under one of the plant pots. I debated whether to let myself in or not, she could just be in the shower but if she is then she'll get a nice surprise when she's out I guess.
Once I stepped into her house it was dead silent which is unusual because she's always got the tv on or music playing, it makes her feel less lonely. "Liv?" I shout from the front door, too scared to go walking through her house in case I give her a fright but it was still quiet. "Olivia? It's Van" I take some small steps through her house, she might have headphones in or something so I was being careful not to sound like some mad man who just broke in.
That's when I seen that she wasn't sitting with headphones in, instead she was lying on her kitchen floor passed out. The fear hit me like a ton of bricks as I quickly made my way over to her. I sat down next to her and gave her a shake to see if she'd wake up but she didn't and that's when I really started to panic. My hands scooped her head up and when I brushed her hair out of her face I seen that she was pale, praying she didn't fall and hit her head. After me repeating her name a couple times I felt her twitch and her eyes opened, a wave of relief flew over my body but I was still scared.
"Olivia what happened?" This was the first time I've seen her in a month and she was passed out on her kitchen floor. Slowly she sat up opposite me and tilted her head back against the cupboards.
"Sorry I'm still in my work clothes" I could feel the pain in her voice and it lowkey hurt me.
"Did you have breakfast this morning?" After I said it I realised I probably could have said it in a nicer way instead of sounding so panicky so up I got and filled a glass with water for her. She nodded her head and once she took a drink I sat back down on the floor next to her and put my arm round her so she didn't feel embarrassed anymore which I could tell she did. "What happened Liv"
"I just got home and felt a bit lightheaded, next thing I know is I'm in your arms. I've not had much to drink that's all, just a bit dehydrated. Van I promise you I've been eating, you know I have and my sister can back me up." I could tell by the tone in her voice that she was telling the truth which made me feel less worried, we all pass out when we don't drink enough so hopefully this is just one of those times. Although I felt guilty for getting frustrated with her over something I shouldn't, I was just scared.
"I know you have darling, sorry I just shit myself seeing you like that especially when it's the first time I've seen you in a month" my lips planted a kiss on her forehead and my hand gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze while her head rested on my shoulder. "You're okay though? You didn't hit your head or hurt yourself?"
"I'm okay" Her bright green eyes looked up at me and a smile formed on her face. I stood up and reached my hands out for her to stand up in front of me, my arms swung round her waist.
"I've missed you" I whisper into her ear.
It wasn't the greeting I was expecting but it doesn't matter, we had a week to spend together and the next few weekends I'd be in wales anyway so we won't need to go a month without seeing each other again.
