Chains were rattled, and Hiro looked up to find his teacher standing with a deep frown.

"...Let's go."

Hiro has many questions, but this wasn't the best time. He could sense the tension and anger radiating off his sensei, as well as the other hunters they were passing.

That feeling of familiarity he felt only rose the longer he stayed.

"Ngh..." he winced, his head growing light.

"Humans should be protected, not used, Gin."

"My dear sister, humans are meant to be controlled and collected."

What?

He remembered Kaname's words.

The furnace.

It was where the sister of this eye belonged to. Was he seeing...memories?

He could almost hear it calling out to him.

A sweet yet sad voice...

"Pay attention." Yagari flicked his head.

He gave a quiet apology and followed, ignoring the glares he received. The voice was gone, but the feeling wasn't, and he felt like he missed it, like he'd known it all his life.

But it wasn't him the furnace was reaching for, it was the eye.

"You're going on Hunter duty."

Hiro looked at his teacher like he were crazy.

"...Huh?"

"There's a group of vampires that are smuggling people through the country for profit." He said, turning to Hiro. "The association president believes it would be a good idea." Yagari turned his head, giving Hiro a cloak. "Here he comes now..."

His hair was silver and his eyes were green. His fan covered his mouth and he seemed to be surveying Hiro with intense eyes.

"I hope your enjoying your stay." He said coyly.

Hiro gave a small frown, not exactly in the mood for a joke, considering he was arrested and didn't have a choice on leaving.

"If I may ask, why do you need my help?" He asked.

"The Vampires leading the trafficking ring have hostages. They won't be afraid to kill the humans if it means escape."

Hiro didn't like the sound of that. He sighs internally, wondering what led his own kind to do this.

"You want me to help subdue them." Hiro answers.

"Precisely. The other hunters believe you'll betray us, but you aren't in the position to do so. And if you did, they'd have every reason to kill you." The President gestured to the surrounding audience, hunters all staring at Hiro with disdain.

They were aching to end him.

"So it's a win-win situation. I either help with the hostages or they have one less Pureblood to worry about." Hiro realizes.

The president smiled, moving his fan away. "You're rather intelligent. You're in our custody, so be prepared for some grunt work."
