"He's...a Hunter?" Cross asked Yagari, his glasses almost breaking at the sheer shock. "Since WHEN?!"

"The President thought of it." Yagari said as he lit his cigar.

Cross is at a loss for words. He folds his hands and sighs, not knowing what to say.

"If it makes you feel better, we've uncovered a dozen Vampire trafficking rings. He's still a prisoner, but he's obedient and helps out." Yagari laughs, unable to hold it in anymore.

He holds his side, shaking his head as Cross furrows his eyebrows. He's never seen Yagari laugh, or even crack a smile.

He was worried.

"It's about the craziest thing." Yagari finally says after taking a breath. "I've never seen a Pureblood be an actual Hunter."

Cross gives a weary smile. "He's still a child, but understands he can never undo his actions, and still wants to help." He smiles faintly, reminded of his dear friends who had been taken from this world.

"I don't think they'll ever set him free." Yagari shrugs. "Maybe in a 100 years, maybe more."

Cross looks at the photo of his daughter and adopted son, wondering just how things became so weird and twisted.

"...the council is going to get involved soon." Cross explains. "Kaname has gone to speak with them."

Yagari scowls deeply at that, taking another pull form his cigar.

"Oh my...you haven't grown attached to little Hiro, have you?" Cross asks, cooing cutely.

Yagari glares at Cross, smoke rising from his cigar.

"Don't be a dunce. Besides, an evil Vampire will always be a evil Vampire."

Cross gives a sad smile.

"I wonder if Hiro thinks the same thing..."

Zero wasn't an idiot.

He certainly wasn't a fool.

And he was not hallucinating.

He was assigned to go after a Level E that was biting people left and right. He was waiting in the lobby of the headquarters for his "partner", whoever that was.

He hasn't been given a partner, especially since he was bitten. He was keen on working alone, anyway.

And yet, here was Hiro, who was supposed to be in custody, practically skipping over.

To him.

He grabbed Hiro's collar and brought him close, eyes dark. "Did you escape..?!"

Hiro lifted both hands, pushing Zero away. "No! I'm your partner." He answered, a vein mark in his face.

"I doubt that."

Hiro sighed, already used to the distrust he received from the Hunters here. No matter how much work he did, they would still hate him. Not that he blames them.

He was happy to see a familiar face, but it seems Zero is just as suspicious.

The relationship between Vampires and Humans are too complicated.

"Stop looking so gloomy." Zero scolded softly, handing him a list. "Stay close to me."

Hiro followed Zero out.

"How many mission have you been on?" Zero asked.

"This is my sixth..." Hiro answered.

"So they're letting you roam around?"
