The moon was a crescent, covered by passing clouds. The stars glittered above, yet it was still so dark.
It was probably fitting, given the circumstances.
They made it to the small, abandoned building she had stayed in. It was a good place to choose, considering how far it was from campus.
"She isn't alone." Hiro said to Zero.
Zero kept his head forward, taking in his words. With a quiet sigh, he frowned deeply.
"...I know who's with her." Zero said, eyes narrowing.
"Who?" Hiro asked, curious.
Zero didn't answer, his eyes filling up with agony as a memory passed through his head. He seemed to be lost, another deep sigh escaping him.
He tensed and deflated at the same time. His shoulders rose and stiffened, but his eyes grew dark and heavy.
Hiro furrowed his eyebrows, swallowing.
"I'll protect you."
Zero turned around to face him, eyes half lidded in disbelief.
Hiro frowned, determination fueling within him.
"I promise."
Zero said nothing to him after that.
When they finally made it to the small building she was housed in, Hiro could smell her more clearly.
It was too sweet, an overwhelming scent that made him want to gag. Flowers weren't like this.
They went inside, cautious of the silence as they stepped into the room.
Zero led the way, and within no time, they had found.
Hiro grimaced when he saw Yuki sitting down on the couch, eyes widened as she stared at the both of them. Shizuka sat beside her, stroking her hair in a loving way.
This was where she ran off to.
She seemed delighted to see Zero and Hiro at her door.
"Zero-kun...I can't believe you lowered yourself to working with another Pureblood. Especially him."
Zero pulled his guns out immediately. "Yuki! Get away from her!"
Shizuka only laughed quietly, covering her mouth with her long kimono sleeves.
Yuki jumped up, arms outstretched as she shielded the Pureblood.
"Wait! You need her blood, Zero!" Yuki yelled, pleading with him. "You can't kill her!"
Hiro moves quickly, grabbing Yuki and moving her out of the way. He held her within his arms, giving her a look of disappointment.
"Yuki. Why did you come here alone..?" He asked calmly, her eyes furrowing.
"She promised to-" she began.
Zero went to pull the trigger.
He then tried again.
Lavender eyes widened.
Hiro paused, a slow frown coming to his lips as he looked over to Zero.
...he couldn't pull the trigger.
And then it dawned on Hiro.
Zero was powerless against Shizuka.
He couldn't kill her, not if she ordered against it. She was the one who turned him, which meant she had full control over his body.
