"They can't know we're related?" Hiro asked, looking to Kaname as he prepared a set of clothes.
"Not yet. It would be rather...chaotic for the Vampire Council to find out Haruka and Juri has hidden their children from the council." Kaname explained, handing Hiro a change of clothes.
"But it would also be hectic if there was a Pureblood with no records or history that just appeared from nowhere." Hiro countered with folded arms.
Kaname smiled at his witty response. "Don't worry about it."
Hiro raised an eyebrow. "But-"
"Don't worry about those things right now. Change into these clothes." Kaname said softly, running a hand through Hiro's curls.
Hiro stuck his tongue out, before heading into the bathroom. He closed the door and Kaname sat on his bed, eyes narrowing.
Seiren appeared just as he left, standing at his side in an instant.
Kaname looked to make sure the door was closed, frowning slightly.
"My lord." She greeted, turning to him.
"What have you found?" He asked lowly, careful to make sure he wasn't heard.
"There was a Hunter that claims to have been attacked by a Pureblood a few nights ago in a restaurant. The description matches Hiro's."
Kaname placed a hand on his cheek, his thoughts churning.
Hiro had yet to explain what happened, and Kaname was tired of waiting.
It was as if he were hiding it, hiding the past he suffered through while he was beside Kaname. Never once speaking about it, never once mentioning anything.
"Thank you, Seiren. Schedule an appointment with the headmaster. I'll speak to him."
She nodded, before vanishing again.
...Kaname wasn't a fan of being left in the dark.
He needed to know what happened, and whether or not he'd need to plan for the new information.Hiro opened the door, struggling with the tie.
The white uniform made his eyes stick out beautifully. It was a bit big, the sleeves reaching almost his knuckles. His curls were a huge mess and he was visibly irritated by the tie.
"Suits are...not my thing." Hiro admitted.
Kaname snickered, getting off his bed and walking towards the younger Vampire. He started to fix the tie, Hiro watching with keen eyes.
"...You never told me how you got those wounds." Kaname said, tying the knot.
Hiro stiffened.
"It was a Hunter." Kaname wasn't asking.
Hiro nodded slowly, his face growing serious as he spoke. "When I escaped from uncle's home, I made it to a town. But a Hunter was following me. He questioned me, and tried to kill me, so I..." He trailed off.
"You killed him." Kaname finished tying the tie. He looked down at Hiro, waiting for him to continue.
Hiro nodded again as he fiddled with his sleeves. "A few of his friends found out who did it, and came after me. They shot me."
"Did you kill any of them?"
"No. At least, I don't think so." He remembered throwing someone out the window. He didn't know if that person was alright or not. "...will I be arrested?" His eyebrows furrowed.
"No, I'll make sure of it. How did you escape?"
"My embodiment is a crow." Hiro looked at up Kaname.
Kaname raised an eyebrow, surprise laced within his eyes. "You can...already do that?"
Hiro, a bit smug, nodded. "Yeah. Uncle taught me...-" he paused, eyes widening in realization. He moved away, going to the window.
"What's wrong?"
It was like a switch had gone off.
"I shouldn't be here." He said nervously, looking back to Kaname with a deep frown. "If he finds me here...Yuki. She could be in danger because of me." Hiro immediately stepped past Kaname and to the door. "He could come after you or Yuki. Or this school-"
He placed a hand on the doorknob, but Kaname quickly stopped him. Hiro tried to free his hand from Kaname's grip, fear creeping into his mind.
"Hiro." Kaname called out to him.
But Hiro couldn't hear him.
If Rido found him...he wouldn't be able to escape this time. He'd probably be thrown into his room for an eternity. Rido would starve him again, to the brink of death. Maybe tear his legs off so he couldn't walk, or force his shadows on Hiro. He'd take Yuki and hurt his friends and Kaname-
His hands flew to his chest, feeling constricted.
Kaname watched as Hiro stepped away, lost within his mind.
He needed to calm down before he lost control.
The glass windows broke and the walls began to crack.
The lights broke, shattering to the ground.
Kaname's shirt tore at the side.
"Hiro." He called again.
Kaname stepped closer, placing both hands on his shoulders. He moved them to Hiro's face, forcing him to look up.
"It's alright." He said softly.
"He's going to find me." Hiro whispered. "I have to go."
Kaname pulled him close, closing his eyes as he ran a hand through Hiro's head.
Hiro clung to him like a moth to a lamp, his thoughts swirling about in his mind.
"If you are afraid of Rido coming after you again...running away and being all alone would only leave you open for attacks." He argued.
"...You'd be safe. Yuki would be safe." Hiro tried. "I can-"
"No."
Hiro looked up to see Kaname looking down at him with a sorrowful expression.
Hiro furrowed his eyebrows.
He hated that face.
"Stay with me." He said, before placing their lips pressed together.
Hiro stared at him in surprise, his eyes slowly fluttering to a close as he felt his stomach grow light.
"It'd be better to stay here, where I can protect you." Kaname told him, nuzzling his head.
"...But-" Hiro said with a blush.
Kaname hugged him tight. He placed his lips upon his head. "Won't you stay?"
Hiro couldn't stop the nod he gave, nor could he stop the faint smile that blossomed on his face.
"...For now, I suppose."
