Hiro stared at the man's neck, entranced by the blood moving through his veins.
He was hungry.
"-it'll make you angry, but satisfied." He told Hiro. "You'll like this book, I assure you, young man." The old man said, handing him the book.
"...Uhm. I don't have any money, sir." He said with a soft frown.
The old man waved his hand as if shooing a fly away. "Go ahead. You can borrow it, but bring it back when you're done!" He said kindly.
"Thank you..!" Hiro smiled, walking out of the bookshop.
He walked through town, hand in his pocket, the other holding the book.
He had no money, no place to stay, no food to eat or blood to drink...
Like a child cut off from their parent's bank account.
He had made sure to lay low, hoping to not lure out more of Rido's mosquitos. Hiding in plain sight.
Vampires and humans alike passed him without a single glance.
He learned to hide his overwhelming presence. He didn't need Vampires fawning over him or taking advantage of him.
Dogs and cats still hated him, but then again he understood why.
But other than that, he was fine.
He was like another brick in a house, unseen and ignored.
I'm hungry.
He frowned.
So hungry...
He leaned against a wall, slowly walking over to an alleyway. He gripped his face, shaking his head.
His felt his fangs come out, as if begging for blood themselves.
His throat was so dry-
"I knew it."
He froze, looking up.
"...A vampire."
Hiro raised an eyebrow.
Who was this guy?
He was human..?
"H-Hello." Hiro greeted. He leaned off the wall, gripping the book tightly. He'd never spoken to anyone outside the house.
The man lifted a gun, pointing it at Hiro.
"What are you..?" Hiro quickly moved out of the way, avoiding the bullet.
He snapped his head back to the human, blue and red eyes wide. "What're you doing?!" He yelled out.
The man only pulled the trigger again.
Hiro moved, racing towards the guy. He knocked the gun from his hand, easily pinning the taller man down.
"Why are you attacking me?!" Hiro yelled.
The man kicked Hiro off, teaching for his gun.
Hiro frowned, running and grabbing the gun.
"Agh!"
It burned his hands, skin burning at the touch. He pulled the gun up anyway, tossing it far into the sky.
He breathed in heavily, hand twitching as he glared up at the man. "Why are you trying to kill me? What are you? And that weapon..."
The man stared at Hiro with wide eyes.
He started laughing.
Laughing.
Hiro stared back with a blank face, obviously annoyed. His watched his hand slowly heal, turning back to normal as several wheezes echoed through the alley.
Finally, the man stopped. He stood up, dusting off his coat. "...you mean to tell me you don't know what I am?"
Hiro shook his head. "You're a human."
"I'm a Hunter."
Hiro raised an eyebrow. "A hunter? What do you hunt, Vampires?" He asked sarcastically, grimacing.
The Hunter smirked. "Precisely." He slowly reached for his dagger.
Hiro froze. "...but, why?"
He was confused. Why would this guy go and attack Vampires? What did Vampires do? And how did he get such a powerful weapon?
"You look confused. What, you've never been outside before?"
Hiro tensed.
He frowned, looking to the side.
The Hunter paused. His hands landed on his hips with a groan. "Just who are you?"
"...I'm no one." He admitted. "My name is Hiro."
"And why is a Vamprie dressed in such fancy clothes out here so late, Hiro?" The Hunter asked, walking closer to him. "You sneak out?"
Hiro grew calm, waiting for the Hunter to get closer. "Why do you want to know? You only want to kill me. Are there more of you?"
"Multiple organizations scattered across the world, kid." The Hunter chuckled. "Now, why don't I take you home, before I accidentally stab you and start another war."
"No thank you."
He gripped Hiro's shirt, eyes dark and he leaned down.
He lifted his dagger to Hiro's neck, sighing.
"Wasn't askin'."
Hiro opened his palm slowly.
"...fine. I'll just kill you and deal with the issue later." The guy said.
Suddenly, the alleyway grew dark. Shadows emerged from the ground and connected, making the small space lightless.
The Hunter grew confused, looking around.
"...the hell?" He questioned.
He grunted when he felt something grab his shoulder with intense strength.
He was silent when he turned around, staring into the eyes of a shadow.
A scream echoed in the alleyway.
Hiro stepped out, adjusting his shirt and dusting off his book. He wiped his mouth, licking blood away as he left the alleyway.
Vampire Hunters, huh?
Rido has never mentioned them. Then again, he never mentioned anything helpful.
Hiro clenched his fists, loooking back at the empty alley.
...Just who were these people?
