"Gin."
The monster stared back at him with angry eyes, as if looking at a stick of gum on a shoe.
It walked forward, gripping Hiro by his shoulders and sinking its nails into his skin.
Wincing, Hiro looked up at the beast, icy blue eyes glaring down at him. The monster was almost human, and too familiar.
It smelled horrible, a rancid scent overwhelming Hiro's senses. Its teeth were bared and drooling, dripping on his face and clothes.
Surrounding them was a red mist, bodies sprawled out around them.
It's mouth opened, ready to devour Hiro whole-
He woke up in cold sweat, eyes wide as he reached to cover his head from the attack.
He fell out of bed, landing on the hard floor.
His fear only rose when he saw a shadow lurking in the corner. It eyed him, waiting for a moment where he was weak to strike.
Hiro watched it leave with a heavy frown. He swallowed, looking to the window.
The sun had yet to rise.
Hiro got up and walked over to the window, moving the curtains away as he crawled out.
His bare feet landed on the cold grass, and the cool breeze already made him feel better. He looked back up at the window, shadows peeking out and watching.
He walked on.
__________
Zero watched as the Vampire walked through the grass, barefooted and lost in thought. It was almost impossible to spot him, his presence hidden too well.
With a quiet sigh, Zero silently followed him.
He stopped behind a tree, arms folded as he turned his head.
The Vampire stopped at the tallest building on campus. It was an old building that never had any use except for storage, and Zero wasn't a fan of the surrounding aura.
But he watched as the kid started climbing the walls like it were easy.
If he were lucky, Hiro would drop to his death.
Zero stepped out from behind the tree, frowning as he stepped forward.
Hiro froze, turning around and looking down at him.
"...hello." He said softly.
Zero said nothing, glaring at the Pureblood.
"...I didn't think you'd be patrolling so late." Hiro admitted, sliding down.
"Go back to your nest."
Hiro ignored his comment, smiling. "I wanted to see the sunset."
Zero narrowed his eyes. What a load of crap. No Vampire could withstand the sun.
"Go back."
"Please. I'm not hurting anyone." Hiro folded his arms. "I just want to see something, you can escort me back yourself after." Hiro started climbing again, only to have Zero rip him from the wall.
