It hurts

(Jayden POV)

"Jayden?' I hear Twilight call to me, but I'm not in the mood 'Jayden, please talk to me

'What do you want me to say Twilight? You took me away from the people who matter most to me, you took me away from my mates when they needed me'

We've been able to shift for a while but I still haven't taken control. Twilight doesn't trust me to keep going forward 'I'm sorry Jayden, but you needed to live' She sighs

'It rather die, knowing something happened to my Amber. I could've healed her' I growl the last bit

Twilight doesn't respond, in fact, we don't talk to each other for awhile

She's been running for hours now, I can tell we're exhausted but she won't stop. She keeps stumbling over tree roots and rocks, to tired to jump over them 'I know what you're thinking Jayden and we are not stopping'

'We can't keep going like this. You're going to wear yourself out to the point we collapse. We need to rest, just for a little while and then I'll take over'

'NO!'

'I'm not going to take us back' I sigh sadly 'I don't even know which way to go back. You need a break Twilight'

'I-I....fine. Our body will shut down if I don't stop anyway. Just let me try and find a safe spot where we can at least remain hidden'

'Okay'

It takes at least another hour until Twilight finds a mass of bushes where we can hide in the middle of 'This is good' Twilight pants, breathless from her running 'We'll rest here for a while. I've been hiding our scent so no one should be able to follow us or find us unless I want them too'

'Fine. Now let me have control' I growl. I know I shouldn't be angry at Twilight, she saved my life. I'm just....I feel so weak. I couldn't help my loves, my family, my friends. Instead I ran like a coward

'You didn't run sweetheart, I did. I took you away and I won't apologise for putting you first'

'Damn you make it so hard to be angry at you' I groan

'I know' Twilight reaches the middle of the bushes and finally lays down with a exhausted huff. The plants envelope us in darkness, even though the sun is still high

I feel the control come back to me instantly and I sigh with a smile. Having the feeling of being disembodied was doing my head in. Unfortunately, now I can feel all the aches and pains again. My paws are killing me and I turn the right front one to see pebbles and pickles embedded in it 'Twilight, why didn't you let me feel this?' I asked her, motioning to my paw

'Cause you were hurting enough' Her voice is a little distant, so I decide to just let us sleep

Closing my eyes was easy, actually sleeping was not. My mind kept racing to what I could've done to help more. What I could've done to save everybody. I don't even know if anyone was killed. Amber Just saying her name breaks my heart. She got the brunt of the explosion. So much blood surrounded her and her not moving really hit home that we aren't immortal
