It was already eight o’clock before the dinner was set at the table an hour after they arrived from the resort. They stood and left the fireplace leaving the books they have read behind. Instead of directly sitting at the chair to eat, Lilo went inside the kitchen and helped his grandma. For the third time, Selah was a bit awkward about her table manners.
“It’s okay, dear. You may take your seat. After all, you are our guest in this house. Lilo and I could manage preparing the dish.” His grandma said after she noticed Selah who was about to stand and help in the kitchen.
She glanced at Lilo and saw him slightly smiling while getting some plates and glasses.
“It’s okay.” He said while carefully setting the dishes prepared by her grandmother in the table.
Selah didn’t like the tune of his voice but manage to smile back at him. Later, the dishes were served one by one at the table. Lilo cleared his throat. He could still sense a bit of dignity to Selah’s face even though she felt uneasy a while ago.
“What’s the matter?” The old woman asked who was sitting in between them.
She gave a look of faint curiosity to the lady sitting adjacent to her. However, from the opposite side of the table, Lilo could still sense Selah’s uneasiness. A shadow of cold smile to every conversation he tried to bring up was playing upon his lips. It’s like a wrong move, he thought.
“I’ve prepared the guest room for you, Selah. You can ask Lilo if you need anything.” his grandmother said to her.
“Thank you…” She couldn’t finish her sentence after realizing she doesn’t know her name.
“Just call me grandma. I prefer it that way.” The woman said.
Selah just smiled at her.
After dinner, Selah directly went to the guest room avoiding Lilo’s conversation and tricks when she noticed that grandma also take her leave to the kitchen area.
Lilo was left all alone washing the plates and pans. She sat on the sofa and trying to finish the last three pages of the book.
She was about to turn to the last page of it when she heard a glass crashed on the floor with a loud noise. She ran immediately to the kitchen and there saw Lilo was bleeding of the broken glass. After seeing droplets of blood on the floor, Selah was froze. After that, all was dim to her.
Lilo immediately rose from his position and ran towards Selah who got fainted on the floor. He wasn’t aware that she’s scared of blood. He sat on the floor wearing nothing at the top but his apron. He gave her air to breath and an ointment to get back to her consciousness. While staring at her, he couldn’t help but smile after realizing that someone cold and quite domineering easily fainted by blood.
Lilo’s thoughts were cut off when Selah opened her eyes and regain her consciousness. She immediately sat on the sofa pondered everything that happened.
“What happened? How come there’s blood in your hand?” she asked while looking at the broken glasses scattered on the floor.
“The glasses slipped to my hand when I’m about to transferred it in the cabinet. It was an accident.” He simply replied.
Selah sighed in a relief when she noticed it was already treated. When she turned to her right she was surprised after seeing his grandma smiling at them.
“I’ll better go upstairs.” She simply said while trying to hide her cheeks from blushing. It was a bit awkward for her having two people staring at her.
It was after some time when she heard a knock on the door. She did not bother to open since it was him.
“Are you giving me permission to get inside?” he said from the outside.
‘You wish!” she just thought to herself. She’s confident that he couldn’t open the door since it was locked inside.
Few moments later, she was surprised that someone is unlocking the door knob.
“I told you, I can open it if I want.” He said coldly and sat on the sofa beside her.
“What are you doing here?” she asked annoyingly.
“I wanted to finish reading this with you.” He simply replied while scanning the pages of the book they read earlier.
He seemed calm and comfortable talking to her as if nothing had happened downstairs.
“I’m done reading. Just leave.” She coldly replied to him while staring blankly at the window.
Upon saying that, Lilo’s handsome face was twisted into a sneer as she issued her command to leave. His aura was dark and cold.
Selah, who was unemotionally sitting very still noticed the significant change of his reaction from what she said. Even though, it doesn’t affect her. She still sat wearing his neutral expression which is also cold.
The air inside the room turned as cold as grave. Selah sighed in relief when the man already stepped outside the room. She slightly opened the window to let some air blew inside.
“It’s quite suffocating.” She said to herself.
