The warmth of the sun slipped through the blinds and curtain of her window does Selah was forced to wake up despite her body demanded more sleep. She reached out for her phone near the lampstand and there she saw the time almost passed eight.
She jumped off her bed and ran towards the bathroom and grabbed a quick bath afraid that she might be late for work that day. She dressed herself simply but presentable enough for work. She came down running downstairs and planned to directly go to work and missed the breakfast, but Lilo’s grandma called her.
There she saw Lilo sitting on the other side of the table reading a newspaper and almost done with his breakfast. He wore plain polo shirt that matched his jeans.
“Good morning dear. Grab some breakfast first before you go to work.” Her grandma said to her while she’s approaching the table. Lilo remained on his post and continued reading the newspaper. He never took a glance at her while she’s joining the table for breakfast.
“Thank you. Sorry about last night.” She said with her head bowed down with shyness.
“It’s okay.” Lilo’s grandmother replied. But, the person who’s worthy to receive that apology did not even give comment or even glanced at her.
On their way to the airlines, Selah stayed fixed on her seat while Lilo continuously driving without trying to have a conversation with her. Selah didn’t insist either because she was eaten with guilt and shyness about last night.
Living in the mansion for a while now, she figured out that other than San Diego, San Benedict is also a good place to stay for vacation. But, there’s just something more fascinating about San Diego than Lilo’s place although it’s quite far from the town and the city. With lots of things that happened lately, having to constantly go back and forth between the City Airline and San Benedict was a bit ripping to her body. Despite of that long travel back and forth the mansion, she still enjoyed the skyline day and night, the tall trees along the road, the flower shop before crossing the bridge and the cold breeze of nature.
Honestly, she still missed the resort often times. Stopping by the deli across the street before the resort, the calmness of the waterfalls when crossing the bridge, the calmness of the night while watching the waves tossing back and forth and coffee shop she often visit and some series of good books she tried to finish in a day. But for now, she has to do whatever her grandmother asked her.She was awake in her thoughts when she heard an incoming call from Lilo’s phone.
“Dude.” He simply replied to someone over the phone. He might be a friend to call him or her like that.
“I’m driving. I’m on my way to the office.” He continued.
“I’m not available tonight. I don’t party either. Tell him, happy birthday. I’ll just send my gift later.” He replied.
“I’m not in the mood to talk about who you met last night. Sorry, dude. I have to go.” He turned off his phone after the call.
Despite the warmth of the morning sun, the coldness Lilo inside the car is killing her. She knew that he’s still mad at her last night. Obviously, he is. They reached the airline still not talking to each other. He went directly to his office leaving her alone in the entrance of the building.
Fortunately, he’s secretary approached her and gave her a tour of the various departments inside the building and to where she was assigned. Along with the interviewer last time, the other employees also welcomed her to the team. Selah was grateful to them for the warmth welcome. However, she’s still looking for his welcome on her first day of work.
