The next day, Selah was awake by the smell of bacon and cheese coming out from the kitchen. When she turned herself to turn off the bed side lamp and reach out for her phone, the time tells its 5:30 am. Without any hesitations, she went downstairs towards the kitchen thinking it could be Lilo's grandma preparing their breakfast for them so she planned to help her.
She changed comfortable clothes and head downstairs. To her surprise, it’s not grandma in the kitchen but Lilo wearing a white shirt and a black apron on the top. When he noticed her, he didn’t smiled or frown either. He remained as ease while cooking in the kitchen.
“Did I wake you up?” he calmly asked.
“A bit.” She replied while sitting at the counter. She didn’t know either why of all the seats available in there; she chose to sit there facing him while cooking.
“You might have a good mood today to at least face me.” He said calmly.
Instead of answering him, she diverted the conversation.
“Why are you preparing your breakfast? Don’t you have maids?” she asked.
“We have. But I prefer to prepare it on my own. After all, it’s mine. We just asked for their service if badly needed.” He continued while mixing the sauce.
“I see. That explains why I seldom see them here.” She continued.
“By the way, I told you last night I have an early flight today. So, if you want me to drive you back at the resort, I still have some time. But, I can call a driver in case you don’t want.” He said.
“It’s okay.” She said
“Okay what?” he asked.
“I’ll let you drive me back to the resort.” She calmly replied.
“Okay. I’ll better be.” He replied.
“Alright! I’ll better fix my things upstairs.” She said as she gets down from the long chair at the counter.
“It’s fine. Let the maid fix it for you. You better join me for breakfast for us to leave early.” He insisted.
Selah thought that it’s not a bad idea after all. So she stayed and helped him prepare the plates and glasses. She managed to force a smile whenever she noticed Lilo glanced at her.
“Don’t force it. It’s fine. Having a calm conversation with you at the table is good enough for me.” He said while serving the breakfast at the table.
She just nodded at him. After that, she returned her attention to what’s lacking at the table. When everything was set up, they sat and eat quietly. Although there’s no conversation between them while eating silently, at least there’s no tension.
After their breakfast, Lilo went upstairs to change into his aviation suit. Selah waited for him in the garden near the basement where he parked his car.
About fifteen minutes later, she already saw Lilo from the glass door taking his steps downstairs. He quickly opened the basement and get inside the car. After that, they left the mansion.
Before they crossed the bridge, Lilo stopped by a flower shop along the road. The lady handed her a long stem white rose.
“Have a nice day, son.” The lady smiled at him.
Selah didn’t bother to look at the rose. She loved long stem rose especially if it’s white but she’s certain it’s not for her since he carefully placed it in the dashboard of the car and continue driving towards the resort. She noticed that from time to time Lilo glanced at her but she didn’t bother to look at him.
When they arrived at the parking space of the resort, Lilo reached for the flower and handed it to her before she could open the door of his car.
“Thank you for letting me drive you today.” He said politely while staring at her.
Selah could feel his pure intention of driving him back to the resort safe.
“There’s no need for this. But, thank you.” She simply replied.
The man’s car left the place right before Selah arrived at the resort’s entrance gate. She smelled the flower and its scent is nice. She smiled at herself. It’s her first time receiving again flowers after her dad passed away. She was happy. She knew it to herself. While walking towards the resort’s cafeteria looking for her grandma, a familiar faced showed in her front.
“How’s the newly wed? I haven’t received any invitations.”
It was her mom. Her face frowned and was back to being cold.
“What are you doing here?” she directly asked her.
“I’m paying a visit. Maybe I can offer you a bigger price for this resort before the bank would take it from you.” She confidently replied.
“There’s no need. I better hand it to them than to you.” She replied.
“So, you have courage to say that now. Is it because of the man you married yesterday? You look desperate dear just in case you don’t know.” She continued.
“I don’t give comments about your personal life so I don’t need your words as well. You better leave before I call for security.” She exclaimed furiously.
“Oh! You now have the guts to make me leave. Where’s that respectful employee I have.” She tried to tease her.
“It’s gone. In case you don’t know, I regret every moment of it. Working with you is never been my choice after all.”
She left her mom and walked inside the cafeteria and got something to drink. The staff noticed her stormy face as she banged the door of the fridge. She didn’t bother. Her grandma just instructed the staff to continue their work.
