The next day, Lilo woke up early to prepare their breakfast as well as his lunch for the flight. He went towards Selah’s room to check on her but she wasn’t there. So, he thought she would be downstairs. As he headed on the staircase, a nice aroma of coffee welcomed him. There, he saw Selah cooking in the kitchen with her sleep clothes and an apron.
“What are you doing here? It’s still early.” He said while he opened the fridge and took few eggs for breakfast.
“You don’t have to. I already prepared our breakfast. Please taste it for me.” She said while giving him a ladle to taste the food.
“It’s good! We just need to add a bit of salt.” He replied casually.
“Okay.” She replied.
When Lilo noticed a separate covered food in the counter, he was curious enough to ask her.
“What’s this?” he asked as he opened the food cover.
“It’s for your flight later. I cook it for you.” She said casually.
Lilo can’t contain his expression. He wanted to hug her but he resisted not to.
“You don’t have to do this.” He said.
“I realized, though we’re only bond by a piece of paper, at least we can be friends to make this kind of arrangement easier for us.” She said.
Though a bit disappointed of the reason she gave to him, Lilo stay positive.
“Yes, we can be good friends.” He reacted.
They sat at the table and enjoyed their breakfast. Lilo just took a shower and changed clothes for him not to be late in his flight. Selah just packed the food she prepared for his flight. After that, she changed clothes before they left the place. Unfortunately, when she looked at her closet, there is no other type of clothes aside from dresses. Left with no choice, she tried the light blue with flower on its laces dress. She found it comfortable for her so she decided to wear it back to the mansion.
Lilo waited for her outside the house. Few moments later, he saw Selah approaching to him.
“It looks good on you.” He said.
They made their way outside the woods until they reached the main road where he parked his car.
Lilo drove his car backed home. But, upon they reached the end of it, she offered something to him.
“You know what; you don’t have to drive me back to the mansion. You’ll be surely late.” She said while staring at the clock in the dash board.
“Are you okay with that? I mean, you’re right. I’m a bit late in case I would drive back to the mansion.” He said as he checked his watch.
“Yeah! I can drive the car back at home.” She confidently replied.
“Thank you.” He simply replied as he made a u-turn towards the city.
They reached the airport about half an hour. When he gets off the car, he was surprised when Selah followed him inside. The entrance guard welcomed them with a huge smile.
“Good morning Sir and Ma’am!” he greeted.
Lilo just responded with a smile and tapped the guard’s right shoulder. They continued towards the ticketing area where the travelers were booking their flight.
“I have to go now. Keep safe back to the mansion.” He said while hanging his travel bag to his shoulder.
“I will.” She simply replied.
The two parted ways at the airport where Selah made her way back to the parking lot where Lilo parked his car. On her way, she saw Lilo’s friend during the New Zealand travel. They greeted her and she as well smiled at them.
While driving, she passed by the highway where Lilo usually made a little stop to buy flowers. The lady greeted her with enthusiasm same as she gave to Lilo last time.
“What flowers you would like to buy, ma’am?” she asked.
“Do you have potted flowers? I would like to have one.” She said.
“We have ma’am. Do you want to write any dedication before we gave it to you.” She asked again.
“No need.” She replied.
She gave her a bill and waited for five minutes until it was completely given to her. She wanted to give a present to Lilo’s grandma who’s been kind to her since then. She doesn’t have any idea what to give so she just ordered potted plants instead of flowers for she noticed that there were more of it than flowers in their garden.
Since then, she never imagined herself to be in an arranged marriage. To love and be loved is what she always dreamed of as a woman. Unfortunately, she wasn’t given any chance to at least experience once. She has a great contradiction to herself about this marriage but it was the only thing that could save her. However, she is still hoping to find one someday and asked for an annulment to Lilo if the time comes. For now, she has to be grateful and focus on her role as his wife. She began to value and at least find happiness by indulging into his life.
Selah scratched the back of her head while letting those kinds of thoughts in her mind. She continued driving until she got back to the mansion. It was drizzling when she came out from her car. However, Lilos grandma came out quietly carrying an umbrella over her head. A faint smile flashed across Selah’s face after realizing how good she is to her. Grandma looked at the potted plants in her left hand and smiled in excitement as she is handling it to her.
“This is my late birthday gift grandma,” she said while handling it to her. The woman sighed and hugged her.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t able to give a gift to you last time.” She continued.
“It’s okay. I never asked anyway. But, you did gave me one great gift in my life.” She replied. Selah got curious of what she said.
“It’s marrying my son, Lilo. I knew in our very first encounter that you would be a great wife to him. He’s now in good hands.” She continued.
Selah just smiled to what she said. She couldn’t believe how grateful Lilo’s grandma to her despite of her attitude and all. She never hides any personality from the old woman. Their first encounter at the station was all true. Still, she accepted her in the mansion with hands widely open. Perhaps it’s a good karma, she just thought to herself._______________________________________
