Sunlight was seeping through her glass windows and that wake her up. She narrowed her eyes and watched the time in her clock in the bedside table. With a slight groaned, she bolted out of bed with the slowest speed and made her way towards the bathroom.
After she was done with her morning routine, she changed into her office suit, lifted her bag from her table and checked if anything she needed for the day is already there. She headed then towards the staircase making her way to the kitchen.
The sweet aroma of pancakes filled her nostrils. Slouching in the dining table, she looked at Lilo as he set two pancakes in a plate and poured down chocolate syrup on it.
“Are you okay now? Just in case you’re still not, you can file a leave for a day and rest. You don’t need to force yourself to go to work.” He said as he pulled a chair opposite to her.
“Thanks, but, I’m fine now. I rested enough yesterday.” She replied. “How about you, are you going to work?” she asked.
“I filed a leave for three days at the airport to sign some papers and other necessary documents for this month. So, I can drive you to the office today.” He said while taking a small bite of pancake.
She just nodded at him and continued with her breakfast.
“By the way, you told me last night that we’re running out of groceries. Let me do it later after work.” She said.
“You don’t have to. First, you’re not driving today. Second, you’re not yet familiar with the items that we bought here in the kitchen. So, let me handle this.” He replied.
He glanced at Selah and saw her slightly disappointed face.
“Look, if you really want to, you can join me later. I’ll pick you up after work.” He said.
Selah looked at him with a slight grin.
“Why are you always changing decisions lately?” she asked.
“What do you mean?” he asked with so much curiosity in his face.
“The first time I saw you, I knew it already that you’re man of few words and man of one word. You see, I can’t simply turn your decisions to how I wish. But lately, I observed that you’re not anymore fix to what you’ve said even to your travel schedule.” She explained.
“Selah, things were subjected for change; even people.” He simply replied.
With a cloudy face and reaction, Selah just decided to herself to continue her breakfast. Lilo ate silently as well. Though he sometimes took a glance at her, she just passed him with a smile. She waited for him changing his clothes upstairs at the living room.
Her eyes wandered on a spacious room with a minimalist design. It took almost fifteen minutes before Lilo headed down from his room. It’s been six months already since they’re married but she hasn’t entered his room aside from the first time his grandma took her in. She just wondered how it looked like.
“Let’s go?” he asked.
She just nodded and followed him towards the basement. It was almost twenty minutes driving his car, when suddenly his phone rang up. He then connected it to her earphone and answered it. It was his mom’s name displayed on his phone’s screen.
“Mom.” He simply started.
“Mom, do we really have to attend to that gathering?” he asked with a bit strange of expression in his face.
