The next day, Selah woke up earlier than him. She tidy up her bed and removed the sheets since it’s been two weeks she changed it. After taking a bath, she decided to prepare the morning breakfast or at least helped in the kitchen in case Lilo’s grandma is already there. She swung her door and headed downstairs quietly. As she was about to turn left, she was surprised that it was Lilo in the kitchen preparing the breakfast.

Instead of the usual morning greet she heard from him, this time Lilo just focus beating the eggs in the bowl while pre-heating the pan in the stove. Selah thought for a while if she would ask for an apology again. This time, it would be direct to him. But, before she opened her mouth, she was surprised that Lilo asked her to hand him a plate at the cabinet. She was startled at first after hearing her name that she didn’t hear for a day from him. She handed the plate and stood beside him.

“What are you doing?” he asked coldly to her.

“I’m here to help.” She replied.

“There’s no need.” He replied.

“Look! If this is about what I said last night, I’m sorry. I was a bit messed up that day so I tag along with my friends though I didn’t like it in the very first place.” She explained while bowing her head and staring at an empty plate in front of her.

“Also, I’m sorry if I offended you. It’s not my intention. I just want to free that hate I have inside so I threw it upon you.” She continued. Even though, he’s still not responding any gesture or comment about it.

“I don’t drink much either. I just take three glasses of champagne because I’ll be driving back that night. I don’t want to cause any trouble.” She explained again.

Instead of a reply to her apology, Lilo asked her to hand the other plate for bacon and sliced the cheese. She just followed as what she’s been instructed to do.

“I’m really sorry.” She finally said as she was heading out of the kitchen to prepare herself for work since Lilo isn’t responding to any of her apologies.

“Where are you going?” he asked and now he’s staring intently at her.

“I better head upstairs and prepare for work.” She replied to him.

“You’re not joining me for breakfast?” he asked seriously.

“Should I?” she asked him back.

“Why not?” he asked continuously.

“Aren’t you mad at me? You don’t even talk to me since yesterday.” She replied.

“Even though, breakfast should be spent together here in the mansion. That’s our ultimate rule.” He replied. “You better help me here serve the food at the table. Grandma left early today.” He continued while setting the food at the table.

“I see.” She just replied and carefully set the plates.

In the middle of their breakfast, Lilo said something to her that made her heart leap.

“I’m just worried last night.” He said as he took a bite in his bread.

Selah just bowed her head and stared at her food.

“But, I’m not mad at you. I just want you to learn a lesson.” He continued.

Selah remained in her post.

“But next time, I hope you won’t do that without telling me. I may not be your real husband but we made a promise to take care of each other as long as we are legally married, right?” he finally said.

Selah just nodded at him and continued eating her food. After their breakfast, they washed the plates and pans they used for cooking like the usual thing they do since it’s still early to prepare for work. After that, they went upstairs and prepared themselves in each other’s room. After that, they locked the main gate since nobody’s at home since grandma left to attend for her relative’s reunion at the city.

Driving home to work, Selah breaks the silence.

“Can I ask you something?” she asked as Lilo nodded in response.

“Do you happen to know that guy from the bar…Eli?” she asked.

Lilo suddenly hit the break of his car that made her almost bump at the dashboard.

“I’m sorry. Are you hurt?” he asked as he looked at her worriedly.

“No! I’m fine.” She replied.

“Eli is my best friend since childhood.” He calmly replied as he continued driving.

“Oh! But, why did you left hurriedly last night after you saw me with him?” she continued.

“I was just surprised seeing you with him. I have nothing to say either.” He said.

“Are you sure about that? You don’t have anything to say that night? Your facial expression summarized it all.” She replied.

“What do you mean by that?” he asked.

This time he slowly parked his car near the flower shop. The lady greeted him again. He ordered one long stem white rose and a bouquet of pink roses. While waiting, she asked her again.

“Do you really want to know?” she asked.

“Never mind.” He said.

“See? You don’t want to know ‘cause you already knew it.” She finally said.

The lady handed to him the flowers and there he got inside the car and continued driving. Almost five minutes before they could reach the basement, Lilo handed to her the white long stem rose using his right hand while the left is controlling his drive.

“Welcome to my company. I hope you’ll stay for good.” He said.

Selah just smiled as she smelled the fresh flowers. He parked his car and they went inside the building walking side by side.

Her secretary, Jazz, whom she happened to know her name yesterday greeted both of them at the entrance.

“Good morning ma’am and sir!” she greeted with enthusiasm and smile.
Instead of greeting back to her, Lilo handed to her the bouquet of flowers.

“Thank you sir.” She replied.

“Happy Birthday.” He greeted her. “I’ll prepare for a simple dinner tonight to celebrate your birthday so don’t leave too early, okay? He said as they headed their way to the elevator. 

Selah remained silent as Lilo’s secretary was delivering her morning updates inside the elevator. From time to time, Lilo glanced at her.
