Austin furrowed his brow in confusion and blinked hard, "You what?" He questioned, shaking his head slightly in disbelief at my admission.

I rolled my eyes and let out a defeated sigh, "I loved you Austin," Irepeated,
reaching up to wipe the last remaining tears.

"I had no idea," He mumbled, trailing off to finish his sentence with a sigh.

I scoffed and crossed my arms across my chest, "Don't act brand new, everyone and their brother knew I was in love with you," I told him, shaking my head slightly at his lack of awareness. I waved him off and reached again for the doorknob, hoping he'd leave me in peace, when he reached out again to keep the door shut. "Austin," I groaned as I looked up at him, silently pleading with him to just leave.

His sad eyes stared back at me, "Regan, I'm sorry," He said softly, "Really, from the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry," His voice cracked slightly and from the subtle glistening in his eyes, it was like he was holding back tears.

I huffed, "It's whatever Austin, I'm over it. I've moved on from my high school crush," I told him harshly, trying to convince myself more than him. I reached up and with one swift motion, pulled his arm away from the door and gripped the doorknob tightly, swinging the door open.
Austin's bodyguard turned around swiftly, his eyes narrowed slightly as he stared back at us.
"You need to leave," I said, motioning to the hallway with my hand.
Austin hung his head briefly and nodded, hesitantly stepping through the doorway. He turned to face me, his eyes still pleading with me and let out a quiet sigh.

"I'll make it up to you," He said, his lips curling into a soft, apologetic smile, "I promise." I really wish he'd stop using that word. I couldn't help the sarcastic smirk creeping on to my lips, "I doubt that" I retorted.
He opened his mouth to speak but by the time the words threatened to escape I had already shut the door in his face. I leaned my back against the door and shut my eyes tight, fighting back the returning tears. I heard the faint footsteps of Austin and his bodyguard finally retreating down the hallway and I let out a sigh of relief. My feet carried me to the couch where I flopped down and flipped on the tv, hoping the mindless entertainment from cartoons would keep my broken heart together for the time being. My phone rang from the dining room table and I let out a quiet groan, annoyed I'd have to get back up for something that could wait until a better time. I trudged to the table and picked up my phone, noticing Adam's name flash across the screen.
I slid accept as I returned to the safety of my couch, "Hello?" I asked, holding the phone to my ear.

"Well? How'd it go?" Adam's perky voice questioned from the other end of the phone.

I sighed, "Yeah it was fine," I lied.

The other line was silent and I could almost picture the knowing glance Adam would be giving me if we were face to face, "Regan..." He scolded, "Tell me the truth."

"I swear the more you treat me like your child the more I'm inclined to start calling you dad in public," I teased, knowing how much he hated it when I referred to him
as 'Mr. Degross' when we were around clients.

He let out a groan of annoyance, "I just want to make sure you're okay, and he's okay, and we will have a smooth transition for the tour," he explained.

"Yes, Dad, now stop worrying so much. I promise you I will be on my best behavior for the next six months, and any time after that," I said, my voice dripping with the slightest bit of sarcasm as I tried to convince him.

He huffed, "Thank you," he let out a quiet chuckle and cleared his throat, "Now that that's out of the way, we've got some business to attend to. Tonight Austin's doing some promo at a club, everyone will be there. We're in charge of photos. Jason's kind of doing this is an insurance policy, to kind of test us, make sure he didn't make the wrong decision paying us what he's paying us," He let out another huff of annoyance, "Which I think is kind of stupid, but what do I know."
