I let out a quiet sigh while I ran through places we could use for photoshoots in my
head."Want to go shopping?" I asked after a moment, unsure of where else to go.
Austin pondered for a moment and slowly nodded, "Sure."
"Maybe you can just go about your day and Regan can just be a fly on the wall,"
Adam piped up from beside Austin, handing me my camera.I nodded eagerly, thankful I had someone like Adam to guide me in the right direction and stood up from my spot on the couch outside of Mark's office.
Austin smiled, "That sounds perfect."
"Nine o'clock," Adam said sternly, reminding me of my deadline.
I saluted him and grinned, "Roger that star command," I giggled, earning a shake of the head from Adam and Austin, "Lead the way," I said to Austin.I followed behind Austin and Adam asthey made small talk during the short journey downstairs. I snapped a few pictures here and there, adjusting my settings as needed and tried to get my mind focused for the day. If I had known I'd be spending the day with Austin I might have called out sick, and taken whatever
repercussions came along with that. But, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
Adam gave me one last nod of approval as we made it outside, "Alright, see you tomorrow, let me know if you need anything," He said sweetly, exchanging a brief hug with Austin before leaning in close to whisper in my ear, "Be nice," He warned, grinning slightly as he pulled away.
I rolled my eyes and waved him off, "Yeah yeah," I mumbled.Adam took off down the sidewalk and soon was out of sight.I glanced up at Austin, raising my hand to shield my eyes from the burning sun, "So? What's on your agenda today?"
He mused over my words for a moment and pulled his sunglasses onto his face, "Why don't I show you my house?" He offered nervously.
I nodded, "Sure, that works."
"Car's this way," He said, beginning to walk down the sidewalk without me. I took the opportunity to hang back and snap pictures of him as he walked alone and undisturbed, a stark contrast from what I'm sure he experienced on a daily basis.I was a few paces behind him as he guided me through the garage. He'd comment every once and a while and ask how the pictures were turning out. Sometimes he'd pause and pose stupidly for me if only to make me laugh. We approached his car a moment later, a different one than the one he had taken me home in the other night. His smirk appeared once again as I stared at it in awe, "You like it?" He questioned sarcastically, opening my door for me so I could climb in.
I raised my eyebrows in amusement, "Figured you'd have brought your explorer," I teased as I sat down. He chuckled and shut the door, rushing around to the other side and climbing in himself. I raised my camera and waited patiently as he fumbled with his seatbelt and
adjusted his mirrors.
He looked at me and smirked, "Make sure you get my good side."
"Shame you don't have one," I mocked, reaching over to poke his arm. He swatted my hand away as he started up the car, chuckling at me as he did so.As he pulled out of the driveway and onto the road, I couldn't help but feel like we were back in high school. He'd pick me up every day in his beat down Ford Explorer and drive us both to school. It was my favorite part of the day, and I always looked forward to the time alone I got to spend with him. We'd laugh, we'd reminisce, we'd cry, we'd shout. We'd sing along to every song on the radio and tell each other about our dreams.
"Regan?"
Austin's soothing voice snapped me out of my daydream, "Yeah?" I asked, clearing my throat as I shifted in my seat, trying to rid the blush from creeping onto my cheeks at the thought of better days.
