Shawn's POV
We get settled into our suite at the hotel which is amazing by the way. I can't even describe it. Camila did such a good job surprising me and although it's not a log cabin, I can't help but love the fact that I get to spend the next few days with her.
Alone.
In true Camila fashion, she pulls out her check list of things to do in Banff and we change into slightly warmer clothes. It may be late summer in Toronto, but around the mountains with the breeze coming off the lake is a little chilly.
Another surprise from Camila was matching black beanies monogrammed with our initials. I love them because they say S+C.
Commenting on how cute we look, she takes a selfie of us face to face and posts it on her instagram. I immediately like the picture and grabbing our backpacks and my camera we head to our first stop.
It's August 7th and my birthday isn't until tomorrow but we wanted to try and do as much as we can while we are here. Walking down to the lake, we meet an older man renting out canoes. We decide on a two person canoe and the man makes a comment about how it's odd to see a young man my age treat a young lady so well, helping her get into a life jacket and navigate around the rocks and shoreline.
Apparently chivalry is dead.
Not with me though, I was raised right.
As we step into the canoe, Camila slips slightly on the wet base of the canoe and falls back into my arms. I grab her around her waist, holding tightly, I feel her shiver at my touch. I'm already hot in my black and red flannel, but I feel heat rise on my cheeks and sparks shoot down my spine.
This is going to be a long trip.
After spending time on the lake just exploring and enjoying just being together away from all the noise, we decide it's time for dinner. I decided I wanted to do a fancier dinner tonight as Camila tells me she has something planned for tomorrow but won't tell me because it will "ruin the surprise."
We head back to the hotel and change yet again. This time I'm in an off white shirt, black cardigan, black jeans and boots. Camila steps out of the bathroom wearing a simple cotton long sleeved red dress that goes to the floor. She's curled her hair and applied some make up. My mouth drops and I think I feel a little drool..my heart starts racing as she turns her back to me to grab her jacket, giving me the perfect view of her back side. I know I shouldn't be ogling my best friend, especially given the circumstances, but hot damn. Thank you Camila! She's told me that she wants to go back to her "normal" clothes and this is definitely a step in the right direction.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts by her buttery voice "You ready to go there detective?" She smirks.
"Ye....yeah...let's go." I reply nervously, gulping.
We walk side by side to the elevator and I can't help but steal glances every now and then.
How did I get so lucky?
Dinner was great! We ended up sharing a bottle of wine and a piece of cheesecake that was to die for as well. We are now currently back in the suite. I'm sitting on the couch on one side as Camila is sitting on the other with her head in my lap as we watch the beginning of a Harry Potter marathon.
I look down and see her let out a big yawn. Shaking her gently, she stirs and I whisper that it's time for bed. Getting up for the couch she changes into her pajamas and I go to change into mine. There is only one bed in the suite, but it's not like we've never shared a bed before. In fact, I prefer it this way so I can wrap her protectively in my arms just like I do at home. She still have nightmares every once in awhile, but not as bad.
Grateful she doesn't flinch at my touch or hasn't run for the hills, we climb into bed. I instantly wrap an arm around her and she comes towards me the rest of the way. Her head resting on my beating heart. She absentmindedly places her hand on my chest and sighs quietly. Within minutes we are both peacefully sleeping..
