Molly Aizawa was and always had been a big fan of the boys. In her spare time, which she didn't really have very much of, she would watch their 'Run' Episodes, any lives that were happening and stream their music videos. She spent her days being a flight paramedic mostly, and when she wasn't doing that for her job - she was busy eating or sleeping.
To have such a job she had to be relatively fit, so occasionally she might throw a gym workout into her routine, or even go for a jog if the weather permitted it. She loved her job, she loved being able to help people hence she had been living in America recently. A job offer appeared over in America, she packed her things, bid goodbye to her parents - whom she occasionally video called when everyone had a moment to themselves -, and moved to America to work. Molly somewhat missed her old country, she lived in the suburbs of Japan, she missed all the authentic snacks she had over there compared to the ones the American convenicence stores provided.
Everything was going well, she had a nice apartment, she had the job she had been dreaming of since she had to choose what classes to take, she had a nice friendship group, and she had recently adopted a cat from the local animal shelter with the arrangement that her friend would come and take care of her if she had any long shifts. Well, everything was going well until she had her checkup at the hospital, when she was developing in her mothers womb, it was noticed that she had congenital heart disease, and she needed regular check ups to make sure that it wasn't getting any worse.
Her whole world came crumbling down when she had recieved the news from the hospital appointment she had that day, it was getting worse. She would have to quit her job, and wait until she could have a transplant. Molly didn't know how to tell her parents, who had her best interests at heart when they had asked her to stay in Japan with them, that it had now put her life at a much shorter span than she had anticipated, how she had been told that there were no hearts on the donor list as of yet that were O- and they didn't want to risk giving her any other heart to her and mix any other blood type with her own.
After explaining to her boss the next day what had happened, she folded up her uniform and put it in the back of the closet. She laid in bed, contemplating everything that had happened up to now, one hand running through the fur of her best friend who laid on her stomach. Molly was determined that she wasn't going to let her parents suffer heartache like they had when her elder brother had died in a car crash nearly 6 years ago and she sat up, startling the black furred cat who sprinted off of her lap and out of the bedroom.
--
Molly had essentially said her last goodbyes to her friends, just in case she didn't get the donor she needed. They all sat there in the restaurant together, pretending that the chances of one of them dying was high. Holding back tears, swallowing the lumps in their throats. "I have my final check up tomorrow." Molly smiled softly. "Maybe they'll tell me they have a donor."
"We wish you all the luck Molly." A few of her co-workers had decided to join them in their 'final meal'. "You deserve the best heart, and a quick and healthy recovery for all you have done."
"Thank you." She smiled timidly, she had to swallow back her own tears as she took one glance at them all, determined to have their faces in her memory up until the moment where she was told there was no donor for her, and that she had months if not weeks left.
"I'll drive you home." One of them smiled softly. "You have a big day tomorrow, don't want you being tired." With that they all stood up, someone going off to pay the bill and then the circle of hugs began. Everyone taking their turn to hug her, whisper their good lucks into her ear and they all began to depart, heading their own ways.
--
She couldn't help but fiddle with the hospital gown as she laid in the bed on the ward she had to stay in overnight whilst they were doing their checks to give her an estimate on how long she had left. She had her headphones in to ignore the snores of the other inpatients, watching a playlist on youtube that someone had made for all of BTS' best bits. She knew that she probably needed to get to sleep soon, as tomorrow would be the day that she was told to say her goodbyes before a certain date. But she couldn't help but sit up, watching the seven boys who had became an anchor in her life on the screen.
She knew they didn't know who she was, she couldn't have been one of those lucky fans who had gotten front row at one of the concerts and had their 'Y/N' moment. She was stuck in the stands of the stadium, blended in with the rest of the armys there that had attended to see their favourite artists perform. But she had made that emotional connection with them when she had first gave their songs a listen to, when she watched the Bangtan Bombs etc and they soon became her light in a dark moment of her life.
"Miss Aizawa?" Molly felt a tap on her shoulder and she turned to see a teary eyed nurse, stood there. She pulled out the ear buds, adjusted herself in the hospital bed, and looked up at the nurse. "I have some news for you." She spoke in a shushed whisper, making sure she didn't wake up anyone around her.
"Yes?" Molly prayed that it was good news. She hated seeing her parents fret about her, she hated seeing all her friends get teary-eyed over the fact that she might only have a limited time left.
"It's good news, don't look so down." She smiled softly, sitting on the chair beside her. Whilst Molly had been in America, this had been the nurse that had helped her whenever she had her checkups, brought her cups of coffee, sandwiches etc.
"What is it then? Don't leave me in suspense."
"We have a donor, the heart will be here in two hours." The nurse broke out into a grin, and Molly's phone hit her lap with a dull thud, the video pausing on BTS' face, and tears began to roll down her cheeks. She was overcome with emotion. "Let any family know, any friends..." She smiled softly. "Obviously there is still the risks we mentioned the other week... But it's a better odd than just leaving it."
"Thank you... So much..." She whispered quietly. Once the nurse had left and she had exited the youtube app, she saw that the time had ticked over past midnight and it had became the exact day that her brother had died 6 years ago. Almost as a sign that he was still watching her, being protective as he used to be. A smile errupted on her face.
