" Yay I am so excited!" Grace clapped her hands in excitement when she took a seat in front of us. Mom joined her too.

Today Grace and mom were going to see our complete performance.

Grace's anniversary was in a few days so only the last minute supervising was left.

The least to say, I was a little nervous. Mainly because of Jake.

He was not really good at handling me when we danced. I almost fell to my death a few times during practices.

Yeah I was exaggerating. A little bit.

And there was still tension between Jake and I after the Adam episode or whatever it was.

"Mom, chill." Jake rolled his eyes at his mother.

Mom gave us an enthusiastic smile and a thumbs up.

We took our positions. The whole room was empty except for me, Jake and our mothers.

I nodded at my mother and took in a deep breath. She pressed the play button and the song started playing.

It was awful.

I was able to feel it in the middle of the dance.

Jake was able to remember all his steps correctly thankfully but the chemistry was not there. It almost felt mechanical. His hold on me was stiff and I did not melt at his touch.

I was sure that we looked like two puppets being forced to dance.

Mom was frowning at us after the dance ended. Grace on the other hand was smiling but was not clapping like she was in the beginning.

"The choreography is amazing Clary. Fabulous." I passed her a small smile. "But something is wrong between you two."

We both looked at each other at the same time then looked away.

Grace raised her eyebrow at us. "Isn't it?"

We stayed silent like two middle schoolers who were caught doing something they shouldn't.

Realisation dawned on her eyes. "Well, I was right."

"You both are doing an amazing job. Clary you are amazing as always and Jake thankfully, you are not forgetting any steps." Jake narrowed his eyes at that. His mother just grinned at that.

"I know that you both have put a lot of effort for this performance. And it's showing. It's just that whatever is wrong between you both, you have to resolve it." Grace said smiling at us.

As if an idea just popped in her mind, she reached for her hand bag. She started shuffling in it, looking for something when she finally found it.

Grace was holding a pair of keys in her hand. And she had a mischievous glint in her eyes.

She got up and placed the keys in her son's hand. "These are the keys to the beach house where the programme is going to take place. Go there and look around. Practice your dance in the place where it's going to be and please make up!" Grace grinned at us.

My jaw almost dropped. "You are just gonna let us go there? Alone?" I asked almost immediately till I realised what I said and put a hand over my mouth.

Jake's eyes immediately snapped to mine at that. They were dancing with amusement. I blushed.

My stomach was doing a summersault. Alone with Jake, for a night in a beach house by the beach. Omigodomigodohmigod

"Yes why not. If you are sure that you won't make us regret this." Mom injected in. She gave me a tiny smirk and I glared at her.

"We won't." Jake spoke up as he pushed the keys in his pockets.

I looked at him. He wasn't looking at me but I swear that I could make out that his ears were turning red. I suppressed a grin.

Alone time with Jake is all I need right now.

"So it's decided then. You leave tomorrow for the weekend." We nodded. It was Friday today and the weekend would be perfect.

Grace hugged me. "Thank you again Clary. For doing this."

"It was my pleasure Grace." I hugged her back, my eyes trained on her son.

"Hey." Taylor's voice greeted me on the phone.

"Hey Tay. How you doing?" I asked her as I packed up my stuff in the institute.

Taylor was getting over Sam. It was not easy. She was doing it in her own way and own pace. But she was much better now.

"Great! I just finished watching kissing booth 2. Girl, Jacob Elordi is fine af. What the hell!" I laughed.

"I agree with you 100 percent." I agreed.

"Now I am just sad that I can't get a Jacob elordi and that I finished my favourite chocolate ice cream today." I rolled my eyes at her complaint.

"I want a Jacob too." I sighed.

"Oh you shush. You got Jake!"  She exclaimed.

I laughed. "Can't disagree."

"Speaking of, how was the dance practice. Did your mothers like it?" She enquired, her voice was muffled. I knew she was laying down cocooned inside a blanket.

"Oh they liked it alright. They even gave us keys to Grace's beach house. They want us to go there and practice." I gushed blushing slightly.

"Shut up! You guys, alone?" She laughed at the other end of the call.

"Uh huh." I nodded on the call. I don't even know why I did that.

"Holy cow! You guys must be thrilled. If you know what I mean." She teased.

"Oh shut it." I laughed. "You sound more excited."

"Oh I def am. My best friends gonna get lai-" I pulled the phone away, blushing profusely.

"Taylor!" I yelled. She just laughed.

We both sobered up.

"Are you sure that you are gonna be okay?" I asked.

She exhaled loudly. "Clary you don't need to babysit me. I am fine. Promise. "

"Okay then."

"Yeah. Don't worry about me and start packing!" She shouted in my ear.

"I am not going away for months Tay." I deadpanned.

"Whatever. Okay now let me watch five feet apart again. Bye, love you." Taylor said.

"Love you." With that our call ended.

I can't wait for tomorrow. I just want everything to get back to the way it was.
