The next morning I woke up bright and early. I brushed, showered and got ready quickly.

I took a bag from my wardrobe and stuffed clothes for tomorrow and a bikini along with the toiletries. It would probably be too cold to swim but still I was packing it.

I combed my hair and pulled it into a messy bun at the top of my head, letting a few baby hairs escape.

I dressed in the comfiest outfit ever and took a jacket with me in case it got cold.

It was a warm, pleasant day outside. Not too hot nor too cold so I decided to wear shorts. My mom rushed around trying to make sure that I have packed everything.  She gave me some extra money for the trip.

"Mom I'll be back tomorrow." I rolled my eyes as mom checked all the things I had put in my bag.

"I know." She said as she checked that I had put my brush and comb.

I felt like a little 5 year old child.

"Clarissa, I am putting a pair of jeans if it got cold okay?"

"Mom!" I groaned. "I'll be fine."

"I hope so." She eyed me warily.

What!? My own mother was doubting me. I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Kidding." She laughed as she hugged me.

At that the door bell rang. Butterflies pooled in my stomach.

"Jake is here." My mom said in a sing song voice.

"Hey." Jake greeted me stiffly.

"Hi." I replied.

"The awkwardness here is making me choke." My mom muttered loud enough for us to hear.

I gave her a pointed look as Jake took my bag from my hand.

"Thanks." I said as Jake pulled the bag up his shoulder. He nodded.

"Okay you two. Take care. And Jake drive safe please." Mom hugged us both seperately. "Clary call me when you reach there or even if you stop for lunch. Got it?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yes mom."

"Good. Now get going both of you." She gave us a mischievous smile.

Jake opened the car door for me as usual. I appreciated his outfit before I got in. He was wearing a black denim jacket over his white t shirt and black pants.

I got in and waited for Jake as he put my bag in the back seat. He got in and we pulled away from my house.

The silence between us was unnerving. The tension was still there between us and I wanted to smack Jake for that.

My hand felt empty without his hand pressing on mine and I started tapping it against my thigh awkwardly. My patience was running dry.

I was looking out of the window at the houses and trees passing by when I felt a warm, large hand wrap around mine.

I looked down at my thigh. Jake interweaved our fingers together on my thigh. I looked up to see him. He was looking forward and not meeting my eyes.

I sighed and squeezed his hand. The fingers of my other hand was playing with his knuckles. He didn't pull away. His hold on my hand just tightened.

It was half an hour into the drive, neither of us were talking and the silence was killing me. I was just humming to the music playing in the background when my phone began ringing.

My hand which was free took out the phone from my pocket.

Adam was calling.

I looked at Jake from the corner of my eye. He still was looking forward as if there was no one in the passenger seat.

Idiot.

I picked up Adam's call.

"Hey Adam." I greeted Adam on the call.

The reaction was automatic and almost immediate. Jake's body stiffened and tensed in the driver's seat. My hold on his hand tightened but he started pulling away.

"Hey Clary!" Adam sounded happy and very excited.

"What is happening?" I asked Adam though most of my attention was on Jake beside me. His jaw was clenched and his hold on the steering wheel was very tight. Because of this the veins around his watch were bulging out.

It felt like he was imagining the steering wheel to be Adam's poor neck.

Poor Adam.

"I am doing something pretty crazy today. I don't know if I am going to regret it or not. But I think I am ready." Adam said but his voice was cracking in between.

"What? What are you saying Adam?" I asked. There was a lot disturbance.

"Check your Instagram." He instructed but his voice cracked again.

"I will. The signals are not really good here. I will call you in a bit okay?" I asked and he replied with an okay then whooped loudly before cutting off the call. I chuckled at his excitement as the call ended.

Jake didn't look quite as excited. Instead, he looked the opposite.

I didn't say anything just kept quiet. I tried checking my Instagram but the net wasn't working so I let it go.

After another hour of driving and an awkward silence Jake pulled over in a breakfast cafe. There were a lot of cars so it looked quite popular.

We got out and in the cafe. Jake ordered for us. He knew my order I assumed while I checked my Instagram.

My jaw literally dropped and I gasped loudly when I opened my Instagram.

Adam had shared a picture publicly that everyone was able to see. It was a picture of Adam kissing a boy, I assumed it was Kevin. The caption was : Happy pride happy life. With a pride flag.

He just came out to the whole world and I couldn't be any more proud. I don't know why I felt like crying.

I saw the comments and most of them were supporting of him. I smiled and commented myself.

So proud of you my boy! Love you. Along with red hearts, crying emojis and pride flags.

A soft gasp behind me startled me. It was Jake, he had two coffees in his hand and he was looking down at the phone in my hand.

"Oh." Was all he was able to say.
