My heart thrashes inside of me when I slip on my brown lace up boots and swing my khaki jacket around my shoulders. I've put my hair up into a bun and applied a small amount of makeup. Thankfully, the bruise on my cheek has shrunk to almost nothing.
When Hailey disappeared to another party, I was relieved to have the house to myself to prepare for tonight. Not that I can really prepare for tonight; after last time, I'm not sure what to expect. But I'm nervous, too damn nervous actually, and I can't have Hailey winding me up again.
Grabbing my bag from the side, I throw open the door, pulling my jacket close as the harsh winds takes me into its arms.
I inhale when the bus arrives, begging for my nerves to dim. Why does Grayson have this effect on me? I'm not even around him yet.
Taking another breath, I saunter onto the bus and take a seat at the back, drowning out the chatter by listening to my music—the soothing sounds of the eighties being my go to playlist when I feel any form of anxiety.
My dad always used to play eighties music, and before long I had familiarised the lyrics to most of the songs and would begin singing along to them. Myself and my Dad would dance around the living room and sing loudly in the car—much to Lucas' annoyance—to our favourite songs.
Listening to those songs reminds me of those times, and I smile as the bus pulls away and the melodies fill my head.

Trafalgar Square is crowded and full of life, not that I expected anything less.
Making my my way to a large, tall statue towards the middle—which I think is called 'Nelson's Column'—I take a seat and suck in a breath. I'm about twenty minutes early, and although that would usually settle my nerves, they're now worse than ever before.
I wonder what Grayson has in mind for tonight. I don't know the city at all, so it's not like I can decide what to do. Quite frankly, I like it when Grayson takes control. It means I don't have the pressure on me of picking something fun for us both to do.
Looking around, it's clear that the ambience here is pulsating, and I smile. In many ways, London is still a dream to me, and I'm not sure I'll ever get used to the thrill of the city. But I'm okay with that. I like being surprised with something new every day of my life.
Staring to the buildings in front of me, I flinch when the feel of two large arms curl around my neck from behind.
Suddenly, I can no longer think about the city. In fact, I can no longer function like a normal human being at all.
With the oxygen sucked from me, I turn, beaming at the sight of Grayson next to me, his arms tightly around my shoulders.
"Boo," he says, his smile melting me.
