"Jack's Cellar?" Hailey asks for the thousandth time.

"Yes, that's what he said," I reply flatly, twirling a teaspoon into my tea which is now over-brewed. "He told me he was working at Plasma, but he told whoever it was on the other line that he'd be at Jack's Cellar tomorrow night. I don't get it."

Hailey eyes me sympathetically, her wavy blonde hair sitting perfectly on her shoulders as she tries to think of an explanation to end my anxious thoughts.

But it appears she hasn't one.

"Pass me my phone," Hailey demands, her palm outstretched.

I take her phone from the countertop behind me and hand it to her. "What are you doing?" I ask curiously, watching as she frantically taps her finger on the screen.

"Jack's Cellar. Here!" She twists her phone to show me the screen. I edge closer, standing next to her as we both look at the map. "Mia, it's all the way over the other side of the city. It's nowhere near Plasma. It looks like some sort of dingy club."

I sigh. If anything I had hoped Hailey would have told me to stop being stupid again, but it seems even she thinks this is dodgy.

Great.

My head shakes, and I return to my tea which I'm sure is nearly cold by now.

"We'll go there," Hailey says suddenly, her green eyes widening as she concocts a plan in her head.

"What?" I shriek. There's no way I could go there. Not a chance in hell. Grayson would think I'm completely crazy. "No Hailey we can't go there!" I tell her matter-of-factly.

"Mia, usually I never agree with you when you're paranoid over these kinds of things. But this time it feels different. Let's go and see what that lying dirtbag is up to!"

      "Hey," I scold her flatly.

"Come on Mia, I know he's your boyfriend, and I know you love him, but let's just see. If it looks innocent when we get there, then we'll leave, and he never has to know, okay?"

I think for a moment, wondering if this is a good idea or not. But I also think about how Grayson might react if he sees me there—it's not like it's the kind of place I would ever go to.

"Okay, fine," I say eventually, sighing as Hailey's persuasion has won me over. "But just in and out, okay?" Nausea creeps into my throat.

"Just in and out," Hailey replies reassuringly. "It looks like it'll take about twenty-five minutes to drive there. I'll ask Will, he won't mind."

"What? No! We can't bring Will into this," I say sternly; it's bad enough that Hailey and I are doing this in the first place.

"Mia, he won't mind. Besides, I won't tell him why we're going, I'll just say you need to pick up something."
