Even though Hailey told me it would move quickly, the queue moves painfully slow. Student nights like these must attract a lot more footfall than a regular night, and I sigh.

"Nearly there!" Hailey moans, her long neck outstretched to clamp view on the entrance. "There's only about eleven people in front of us."

I draw out a breath. The vodka is slowly working its way out of my system and the cold is piercing my pale skin. When we're finally admitted, my shoulders roll back with relief.

It takes a while for my eyes to adjust, but inside, I can barely contain my new found excitement. The area is huge—larger than the sizeable exterior would have you believe. Thumping, bouncy music flies through the dark space, with bright spotlights sweeping back and forth with unpredictable movements. The crowds just look a blur; the darkness engulfing them and the dry ice blanketing them with no remorse. It just buzzes. And it sets my hairs on edge.

Hailey throws her body further inside, jumping about like she's taken something bad. "Finally!" She shrieks, her hand grabbing my wrist. "Let's go find the others."

Wait, what? "The others?" I ask, surprised that she even heard what I said.

Hailey nods eagerly. "Yeah! My uni mates are here! Holly and Will!"

My head rattles; she hadn't mentioned this to me before, though it will be good to meet some new people—right now, I need all the friends in London that I can get.

The further I'm dragged into this club, the more I realise how easy it would be to get lost in here. A huge marbled bar lines one side, and varied levels of dance floors fills the other. In front a large staircase hikes to another floor, and judging by the heavy flow of drunken partygoers that filter up and down, it appears that Plasma has more to offer than just this first level.

"There they are! Over there!" Hailey screams, the music so loud it rips into our ears. Her finger flies in front of her and I follow her tipsy body to a booth at the edge of the room.

In the booth, two people sit and chug drinks. The red-haired girl, who Hailey tells me is Holly, laughs like she's just heard the funniest joke of 2021, and the blonde haired guy, who I learn is Will, humours her.

"Oh my god!" Holly bellows, her super long red hair slapping her cheek against her quick neck movement. "You're here! Yay!" She claps her hand and pats the sofa. Hailey and I take a seat.

"Holly, Will, this is Mia. She's fresh here today." Hailey eyes me and smirks, her expression saying yeah-you're-new-here-and-we're-gonna-get-you-fucked-up-tonight.

Holly and Will look to me, waving and smiling. Holly looks like the twin of Hailey—just with red hair. Will looks mellow and chilled, slave to whatever Holly decides for us tonight. His side-brushed hair is a soft blonde and he wears trendy glasses that look like they cost a fortune. With a smile, he says, "Hey Mia! It's so good to finally meet you!"
