Thirty minutes into the party and I've already been greeted by more people than I can count—or remember for that matter. But each time Grayson introduces me to his family and friends, I become a little more smitten at the sound of him calling me 'his girl'.
"I think that should be everyone," Grayson says, smirking as he hands me yet another glass of champagne from a side table. "Sorry, you probably feel overwhelmed."
"No, it's great to meet so many people." I place a soft kiss onto his lips reassuringly. "Is your sister here?"
I remember Grayson telling me about his sister, Chloe, who lives in Italy, but I don't think I've been introduced to her tonight.
"She couldn't make it," Grayson tells me. "She's working this weekend." Grayson sips his champagne, and I watch weakly as his jaw moves when he swallows. "You'll have to meet her soon though, I'm sure you'll both get along."
Curling his arm firmly around my waist, Grayson pulls me closer, and I watch as the many people in the room move between the buffet table, the bar and the dance floor. Grayson offered me a plate, but I declined; my nervous stomach can't handle food right now.
As I sip the last of my champagne, a loud clink sounds from the stairwell. At the top, Grayson's parents stand proudly, huge smiles spread across their faces.
Together they look like the perfect couple, and I almost envy how elegant they appear at each other's side.
Phil lifts a microphone to his mouth whilst Maria taps a knife against a champagne flute. Immediately the sound of the room fizzles into silence.
As I watch them both, dressed incredibly beautifully, I realise where Grayson gets his impeccable looks from.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Phil calls, smiling a brilliant smile alongside his stunning wife. "Thank you all for coming to the twenty-fifth anniversary of Pacific Blue. We've had our highs and lows, ups and downs, but we're so pleased to be where we are right now, and I couldn't have done it without the support of you all."
Grayson smiles to me, slyly moving his strong hand onto my buttocks.
"Grayson!" I whisper.
"Shh," he teases, a wink flying from his eye.
"But without further ado," Phil continues proudly, my eyes flying back to him. "Maria and I welcome you all to this evening with open arms, and wish you all a fantastic night. Enjoy!"
The room bursts into applause, and when I join in Grayson moves his lips to my neck, sucking lightly at the skin.
Shocked, I swat his cheek.
"Grayson!" I shoot him a wide-eyed warning expression.
"C'mon, nobody was looking," he chuckles. "And besides, your tits are staring at me." His gleaming white teeth are showcased as he moves his tongue playfully against his bottom lip.
