Synopsis: An innocent little blurb where Y/N and Harry are neighbours and Y/N's sunflower is too tall
Y/N and Harry have been neighbours since they were born. Their parents were good friends but for some reason Y/N and Harry could never get a long.
Harry was too arrogant for Y/N. He would always make some crude comment to her or talk about how many girls he's slept with which make her all flustered and anxious because she could never talk about who she's been with (not like she'd been with anyone anyway).
Y/N was too shy for Harry. Of course that's not something to dislike someone over but she didn't even let him get to know her and she stutters with everything she says which Harry would find very infuriating sometimes.
They had grown up right next to each other but couldn't be further a part in personality.
It was the summer before their final year of high school and Y/N had taken on gardening since she didn't really have anything else to do. She didn't have any friends but was quite content with staying home and doing things she loved on her own instead.
She put on her gardening boots and walked out with her yellow watering can to water some of her plants. She had grown a large amount of products which she would often eat for lunch and make her family a delicious salad.
But she was particularly proud of her sunflower that she had challenged herself to grow at the beginning of summer. It stood tall against the garden fence with its bright yellow petals looking like a golden sun in the sky.
Y/N started to hum a little tune as she watered the soil her sunflower stood in. "Your sunflower is blocking my view." She heard a voice from over the fence and rolled her eyes at the deep voice that she unfortunately knew all too well.
"M-move somewhere else then." She mutters, continuing to water the sunflower.
"I would baby, but I quite like this spot." That was another thing she didn't like about Harry and that was the annoying nicknames he would give her. She knew they were just a tool to rile her up and she tried so hard to not let it bother her the way he wanted it to.
She finally looked up to peer over the fence and saw Harry relaxing on a deck chair right in front of her sunflower. She rolled her eyes, "W-well of course it's in the way you're literally sat right in front of it. Y-you have a whole garden and you decide to sit right there."
"Like I said, this is my favourite spot and it wasn't a problem until you're giant, yellow flower got in the way."
"W-whatever Harry. I-I can't pull it out of the ground so you'll just have to deal with it being there." Y/N huffed and walked back into the house.
A week later, the weather was predicted to bring thunder storms for three days straight. It was frustrating because they had just received weeks of blazing hot sunshine and now they were going to have to go through days of thunder and lightning.
Y/N hated storms so when she heard the booming sound from the thunder outside she tried to block it out by turning the volume up on the TV as she watched the 'Good Witch' but it wasn't enough to prevent how terrified she felt.
She was home alone as her parents were on a business trip an hour away from home. They both worked for the same company so they were off on the trip together. Y/N was home alone and that just made the storm all the more worst.
Y/N decided to go and make herself a cup of tea in hopes that it would bring her comfort. She had a good view of the garden as she boiled the kettle and watched as her plants were pushed around in the wind. Her eyes widened when she saw her sunflower lean forward and back in an unsettling way from the harsh winds.
