A I S L I N G

This past week has been absolutely excruciating. I've watched the same girl come over to Alessio's every day this week, which is odd because he is notorious for being a one night stand type of guy.

Watching Alessio let go of his feelings for me was harder than I thought but I tried not to dwell on it. This was what I wanted.

There's also the fact that he hasn't spoken a word to me since that night, not even an update on what's going on in my family. Once again, I'm in the dark. I guess it makes sense that he doesn't care though.

On the brighter side my coffee shop is set to open in one month! I've slowly been adding furniture, decor, and supplies to the space. It's coming together amazing, and it's something that's all mine.

I've been putting all my hard work and energy into making sure I have everything I need. I've also spending a lot of time finding the best coffee beans and syrup suppliers to use.

Bailey has been really supportive and honestly a huge help! She's going to start as a barista when we open for business too.

I've been avoiding my friends but I managed to make it to the friendsgiving dinner. It was non confrontational, and we all had a great time, despite my worries that Josephine was going to ask more questions. I was really shocked though, because she didn't pry about it at all.

I stand in front of the mirror, my hair disheveled, small purple bags forming under my eyes, and my skin looked less vibrant. I guess I've just been losing so much sleep over the coffee shop, throwing myself into work.

I wash my face and brush through my hair before picking out something to wear. Today I chose t shirt under my signature leather jacket and faded black skinny jeans.

I quickly check my watch, 12:40 I'm meeting Aedan at the cafe today, he called and said he wanted to meet to talk, and I have a few things that need to get done there.

After about an hour of unpacking boxes inside the cafe when I see Aedan walking up. "Hey Ais." He greets as he strolls in. "Look we need to talk. What's going on with you and Alessio?" As soon as the words enter my ears, my eyes shoot up.

"Nothing. What do you even mean by that?" I question, tilting my head to the side and arching my brows at him.

"You do know that dad always has people watching you right? They may be more discreet now but they're always there. Dad said his men reported that you and Alessio had been spending time together, then that he rented out the apartment directly across the alley from yours. He's pissed Aisling, he wants to know what's going on." Of fucking course he's been having me watched this entire time. Unfortunately, there's absolutely no surprise there.

"Alessio is my friend, I'll have you know, but I haven't even talked to him in a week so that's probably over anyways." I sigh.

"Friends? Aisling, really? I thought you were a wee bit smarter than that. Chances are he wants to be more than friends and even so, you shouldn't be making friends with someone in the mafia. Make normal friends." I huffed loudly, I cannot believe he just said that.

"You know what? Maybe you just don't understand, I'm not fucking normal, I can't keep letting on any longer. I come from a mafia family and danger is always around the corner. I'm better off having friends who are prepared for it." I retort, thinking specifically of Josephine, she was warped into Alessio's plan to find me just because we were close.

"And if dad has a problem with that, tell him to come talk to me himself. I'm an adult who is capable of making her own decisions. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to lock up because I left some things back at my apartment." I add, ushering him out the door, no longer wanting to talk to him now that I knew the reason he was here.
